paulal wrote:1. While you mention in your install procedure that one will download/install TomTom v7.4x, I just happen to notice this morning that it is actually v7.910 (shown on the GPS info - right bottom). Is that correct? Not that it would matter...

To the end user they look and operate the same, usually the difference is internal tweaks for different PDA hardware, and occasionally cosmetic tweaks to match device themes.
The only two builds of TTN7 that run on Windows CE are 7.450 (most compatible) and 7.910.

paulal wrote:2. Based on the Maps overview for WinCE 5.x versions, one can install TT maps up to v915.5110. I can activate the map without any problem, but TomTom returns a 'no map' installed error? I've gone through some suggestions - this and other forums - but can't get it to work. My brother - who has a TT One - is using v915.5074, but that one is not recognized either (as stated in that overview). My brother in-law (yeah, what a family :) is using "Benelux-571"; which I believe is a 890.4234 - and this map works just fine (be it not so recent)...
I can go download any of the maps between .5074-.5110 versions, but I guess I could ask you for suggestions?! :)

Check the map is compatible with the far right column in the compatibility chart in post#1 of the official map thread AND a meta code is posted with the download link.

paulal wrote:3. Speedcams: I need them for the Benelux, but if one goes out searching, most up-to-date versions I can find are Europe-oriented. Do you know of any tool that allows one to "clear out" such file, hence reducing it to the countries one is interested in?
(If it had the country code per line, I could easily do this myself using a DOS batch).
The Europe file gets updated quite well in the sw, but I'm guessing that it also eats up unnecessary memory...

Tomtom official cams are in a proprietary format and can't be edited, however they are split into separate countries, 3rd party cams can be edited with any POI editor like POIedit.

paulal wrote:4. I left the "old" Mio 200 navigator on the disk as well (just to be on the save side). Is there a way to add an "Exit" button to the navigator interface, allowing one to jump back to the blue 'main/start' menu (like it is possible in the iGo8/Primo2/TomTom) ?

If it is MioMap based on iGO8 then yes, if it's SmartST_CE or Spirit software then no.

paulal wrote:I did ask my sister as well, if it was possible: if you want a picture of her face when I asked, I'll send it to you :)

That's ok

Foxylady wrote:I have a Navman S70 my friend had in his car 3 years doing nothing as when he connects to usb charger the usb to pc and dots logo comes on, so he thought it was useless and managed with map book to get by.

If it does this with the original Mio charger, this is probably hardware related, but some phone chargers cause this.

Foxylady wrote:After reading your thread, unlock was easy, i left original software on internal and put tomtom onto sd card.
All working now on both softwares, Latest v915 pna map, pocketgps camera etc all working fine.
So firstly i want to thank you for this guide on how to :encouragement:

That's ok.

Foxylady wrote:In order to achieve sound in tomtom i have to click START, then SETTINGS & VOLUME AND SOUNDS, Drag arrow to right and then i click OK.
I then proceed to start tomtom clicking STORAGE CARD, NAVIGATOR & TOMTOM NAVIGATOR and sound now there.
I click EXIT APPLICATION in tomtom menu, then press and hold power button to shut down pna.
I will then restart pna then tomtom and again no sound unless i go back into the pna settings as mentioned above.
Why is this happening? any way to resolve this?

You could put SetVolume (255) at the end of Autorun.mscr to fix this, or as you discovered make sure the volume is turned up in the original app.

Foxylady wrote:2nd is as regard making a shortcut on desktop for tomtom.
I find the how to somewhat confusing.
Where you mention open note pad on PC, do you on the pna? or actual pc in this case a netbook?
The 47 characters i assume inc "?
more impotantly, where is this file placed if i make one on my netbook?

Open the Notepad application on your PC
Type the path as it is on the device enclosed in quotes "" ...

"\My Flash Disk\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe"
...Or...
"\Storage Card\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe"

Count the total number of characters including quotes and whitespace, type it before the first quote and add a hash # in between them...

47#"\My Flash Disk\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe"
...Or...
46#"\Storage Card\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe"

Save as Tomtom.LNK

Find the Unlock folder on your device and place in the Desktop or Programs folder within it and it turns up in the relevant place.

Thanks fatboy.

I copied text to notepad saved as you stated Tomtom.LNK.

Placed it in the following folders in order, Program files, Unlock and Desktop is where it rest.

Now have Tomtom shortcut on the desktop.
Superb fella, my friend will be well chuffed.
I will also mention as regard charger issue.
Best wishes

For future reference, the number of characters is critical, if it's wrong you'll get a "Cannot find XXX" error.

Otherwise well done :039:

FYI: Maps Europe_915_5110 (Benelux vs has no meta yet)

Forgot to mention this:
TomTom can not see/find this map. I came across a map overview on several other GPS sites, that states that these maps (vs 915.5110) are not supported on the 7.4x/7.9x OS (author: ingazu). My test seems to confirm this... However: while the Europe map is not recognized, it does not mean that this also applies for all other countries.

FYI2: since the Mio 200 only has 1GB capacity, I've used a SD card to copy the european map there. I then copied 'FastActivate' on that disk, and ran it. Then started TomTom, which only found Benelux (on FlashDrive). To test if the "SD drive" was found, I then copied the Benelux map on the card, and removed it from the flashdrive. That worked, in the sense that it found the Benelux map, but not the European one...

I found quite some discussions about which type of SD card one can use for this device... In my case (bought via eBay): SanDisk 8GB microSDHC, plugged into a Sandisk SD Adapter. (in case somebody was wondering). MioMore and TomTom Home recognized the drive without problems.

Correct!

Did you try this one [Please Register or Login to download file] ?
Look up the version number on this chart, see it's compatible with Wince and WM.
With Windows Mobile/CE versions of Tomtom the general rule of thumb is to pick the smallest by file size.

BTW: ALL 915 maps contain the same road data, the minor number (5106, 5110, etc) denote the feature set, a higher number here does not mean a later version or revision.

I normally buy Sandisk cards, never had one fail yet...

FYI: Install TomTom maps on different disks (FlashDisk - StorageDisk):

While trying to install a West European map on my Mio/TomTom configuration, I had to experiment a bit to get this working. Since I did not find any info on how to do this, hereby my experiences.

Configuration: Mio Moov 200 with FlashDisk 1GB (and possibility to insert SD card)
1. TomTom has been installed on the Flashdisk, including a recent Benelux [Benelux_910_4952] map (sofar no problem)
2. Wanted to install a Western European map as well (size around 1 GB). Since this can not be installed on the FlashDisk,
I had to work with a StorageDisk (SanDisk 8GB microSDHC + Sandisk SD Adapter).
a. Create a folder (give it your map's name: eg Europe_West_915_5106) on your SD card (=StorageDisk), and copy your map in there.
b. Copy [ttnavigator.bif] from your FlaskDisk to your StorageDisk
(if you do not do that, FastActivate will ask you to select a drive, and only activate the map(s) located on that particular drive)
c. Copy FastActivate sw to your StorageDisk. Then run it, and activate map/voices/etc
d. Your done.

PS: I've downloaded in total 4-5 W-European maps before I got one working! 3 came from this website, 2 from other locations.
a. None of the Europe_1GB_West_915_5106 worked for me; TomTom simply did not recognize/show them (did not even give error)
(I had first downloaded this map via Torrent, as it came with a Meta-file... no cigar though)
b. Of the 3 Europe_West_915_5106 maps, only Europe_West_915_5106 [1127MB] (found on this website) worked for me.
(Meta = ; Europe_West v915.5106 - 38 82 B2... Europe_West-822.meta)
c. Note that - even though all these maps have the same name - none had the same total filesize!
d. I'm using IE9. This vs has apparently problems with LinkSave in combination w/ FileFactory. Clicking the 'Slow Download' button did NOT start the download. Workaround: select the button's properties, then copy/paste the address manually in your browser.

Ciao a tutti! :)

i've successfully installed TomTom 4.750 for WinCE 5.0 using maps v.915.5106.

i'd like to know two thinks:

1) Why maps v.915.5110 don't works? They are compatible.... i think!
2) Is there a method for update automatically the system date/time?
It does not syncronize automatically with Gps :((

My device is a Mio Moov S505 with WinCE5.xx

Thanks for your help!

1. map v.915.5110: it should, but it did not recognize the map. however, it is very well possible that it works for the Italian map (~ciao:) and other countries. it did not work for the Benelux map on MY mio...
2. date/time: read FAQ at beginning of this thread.

You don't need one, check your map is compatible (see chart), usable (meta code) and in the right place (see guide).
