Gud pm NT

question again

what is better, turning off the unit via iGo primo, using the power off button on the screen, but it goes back to the menu screen? you know where you click the iGO primo logo again

or

just turning it off via power switch on my unit?

or both of them are ok?

tnx

It's best to exit primo via the menu rather than switch off, as you risk file corruption.

oh, i didn't know that, I've been doing that on my other gps.
Maybe that explains why sometimes my other unit gets corrupt all the time, then i have to do another reinstall.

Guess i won't be doing it anymore on my units.:)

thanks again Fatboyfun

Turning off the power during a write operation will corrupt the flash drive.

Some software will hold disk writes in a cache and write them out in one go, if you notice your settings aren't being saved, this is probably the reason.

The mio gets around this problem by not having a normal power off button, but a button that tells the software to write unsaved info to disk then suspend or power off.

2.0 is Primo and iGO8 is the older iGO8. Yes to the maps - in content\map.

HI Folks, i have a slight problem, followed all the advice and it worked at first, the only thin i have done is put in another primo that i ahve in my car and it works fine on wince5, now it loads up, asks for the language (as it does when first booting ) then shuts down and goes back to the desktop.

Now i'de rather have my primo 2 as it anounces the next street name.

thank you.

BTW if anyone needs the new maps for Australia let me know, not sure if you have them, downloaded 4 weeks ago and showing the new freeway from frankston to rosebud.

What device is it? and did you delete the save folder and device specific sys.txt entries before starting?

Wed May 01, 2013 7:42 am

hi fatboy fun, it is a navman my 50t, do you think it might be in the sys.txt?

Wed May 01, 2013 6:08 pm

Delete the save folder and strip the majority of the sys.txt entries out, really all you need is the GPS section...

hi FB,i did as you said but nothing, i suspect that the version i have took up too much memory, so loaded a stripped down version and all good, the only thing is where do i put the voices for the unit to announce the next street name, as every time i choose the voice that says to announce the next street it keeps reverting back to one where it won't announce it. and also will the TMC work, i have it on my navman my50t working.

kind regards, and thanks for your help.

You may have a memory issue, by the way iGO 8 can use tts.

If you open up the devices control panel, settings in the start menu, and then open the system applet, and tap on the memory tab, check the slider, it should be towards the left, and you should have something between 45 and 55 mb's of ram available.
