Mio C250 question

Wed Oct 09, 2013 1:57 pm

Hi all!

I think this is my first post so many thanks to the people who provided all the intel necessary to unlock my Mio!

So i unlocked my Mio C250 using Asgaard's unlock, installed iGo8, put in new 2013 maps and everything runs just fine.

Next i thought i would give a go on MioPocket and installed it without problems. MioPocket only ran the first time after installation but thats fine cause i dont really like it.

Something happened after the installation of MioPocket because everytime i edit ppath.txt, after rebooting the gps, the file goes back to its original form and i lose all my edits in that file.

I wanted to turn the mp3 button (cause i dont really need it) into a button that calls shell.exe and the only way i know how to do this is by editing ppath.txt.

Anyone has any idea of what happened after i installed MioPocket? How to reverse the situation?

Thx in advance!

Miopocket is the tool of the devil, when you uninstalled it, did you restore the device correctly?

mmmm... thats the funny thing because i didnt need to. Apparently Miopocket installed ok and only ran once. I tried the software and didnt like it much, rebooted the gps to see if iGo could still run and it did. My guess is that installed some kind of script that resets ppath.txt to its original form everytime i power on the gps.

I deleted Miopocket from the sd card to make room for the iGo maps and, as far as i can remember, i also deleted some folders/files from the flash that were related to Miopocket.

This ppath issue is really annoying...

Miopocket makes extensive registry modifications on install, the originals are backed up so they can be restored on uninstall, however if you deleted the miopocket directory the backup is lost.

Get into the registry and check HKLM\init for any Launch9999 entries, it's important that you do not modify or edit anything here unless told otherwise.

you cannot have two unlocks on the same device. it will cause conflict. i've mentioned this before.

My bad. I'll see if i can get into the registry. The device is working perfectly but i am trying to further customize it. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind...

back up first before any editing.

Indeed!

Well... it dawned on me that if i put regedit.exe in the root of my sd card and rename it to Oscar91ADM.exe i was able to get access to registry.

After checking HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init i cant find any Launch9999 entries.

I am starting to think that there is nothing wrong with my GPS :7:

I still would like very much to be able to edit my ppath.txt. Are there any more registry entries i should check?

Thx.

Actually, i cant rename/delete/copy any file on the windows folder. I know that this is probably normal but i expected that after unlocking the gps i was able to do that...

Files in the Windows directory are in ROM and can't be changed, on some devices with persistent storage, if it's edited a second copy is stored in temporary storage, but mapped to replace the original.

So in my case i cannot modify anything inside windows folder because everything is stored in the ROM/Firmware correct?

Thu Oct 10, 2013 12:29 pm

Yes, that is correct.

Now, were you able to modify it before?

Thu Oct 10, 2013 12:48 pm

I'm pretty sure i modified ppath.txt before i installed miopocket.

Try coming at it from another angle, If the text file can't be changed, change the file it points to, ie the exe file in the flash storage.

Use a mortscript launcher in it's place.
