Help with Garmin Mobile XT on Mio Moov M401

Postby B-4 » Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:41 am

Hi
I'd like to run Garmin Mobile XT on my Mio Moov M401 GPS device. It is currently unlocked running other GPS navigation systems on Windows CE 5.0 platform. Does anyone have any information they can shed to assist me in successfully loading Garmin Mobile XT onto the device? I've tried various versions of XT without any sort of success.
I thank you in advance.
Cheers

Did you unlock with the mio_moov.zip unlock? Garmin won't start with PNADesktop running.

Thanks for reply Fatboyfun. Would you be so kind and point an old blind man to the file or info? I've tried a few unlocks I'm not sure if I've used the one you're talking about.
Thank you very much

If you use the Mio_Moov.zip unlock it "should" be as easy as adding the lines...
Kill ("PNADesktop.exe")
and
Run ("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\Unlock\PNADesktop.exe)
To the Garmin.mscr file which is in the RunGMXT folder.
#Hide Taskbar
Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarHide.exe")
Kill ("PNADesktop.exe")

#Registry for Port Splitter

#Show Taskbar
Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarShow.exe")
Run ("\My Flash Disk\Program Files\Unlock\PNADesktop.exe)Check path!

The above should kill PNADesktop so Garmin can start, and then restart it when it has closed, However this is untested on a Navman M401, It may be that Garmin won't work at all on your device.
Currently sleeping...

Thanks for reply. I've added aforementioned script to .mscr file. My attempts to load Garmin XT were not successful. PNA desktop simply reboots upon Garmin button click on PNA Desktop and/or executing Garmin.exe in file explorer.
Any other info you may provide?
Thanks in advance

There is nothing visual that really happens except for PNADesktop re-loading due to script execution. I appreciate your help

Does it have to be Garmin? I have Mio M400 and both Tomtom and iGO Primo work 100% with no scripts or fuss. I never tried Garmin on this device.

Well, I don't see as to why there's a problem with running Garmin on this device. Base core still remains WCE 5.0 I'm trying to tweak it in to loading Garmin Core. The problem that I have with it is why not?

Hardware vendors modify the Windows CE core to suit their own programmes, Usually removing all the dlls it doesn't need and modifying others, which is fine as you're not supposed to have access to the desktop, The problem comes when you try to run other software which tries to access these dlls, So one WinCE5 device can be very different to another WinCE5 device.

Garmin Mobile XT was designed for PDA'S which have the full set of dlls, It can be encouraged to run on some PNAs by using mortscript, It runs on an old Medion device i have, but there's a lot of processes running in the background on a Mio Moov, and maybe Garmin clashes with one of them.
