Help Needed Please - Mio S500HF

Postby den2712 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 3:32 pm

I have been trying various methods of unlocking my Mio S500HF with a view to running both the MioMap2008 software and Igo Primo.
I made a copy of all the original files on the device before doing anything and after a couple of attempts which I wasn't happy with managed to return the system to the original mio software.
After trying to run VisualGPS installed direct onto the root of the device it now will not boot up. I get the orange screen it then shows a symbol as though it is trying to connect to PC via USB. I have tried deleting files and reinstalling the backup with the same result. Does anyone have any idea how I can get it up and running again.
Thanks
Den

If the device goes straight to the USB connection screen after power on then either appstartupsec.exe is missing or the path to the app in appstartup.txt is wrong.

With Moov based devices you use installation method c for the visual unlock!

NOTE: YOU MUST USE THE ORIGINAL APPSTARTUPSEC.EXE

I think it is still there, should it be sat on it's own or in a folder. Is there any way I can tell if it is wrong or anything I can do to install the correct file

How did you restore the backup? Surely that would return the device to it's original state?

Ok, I expect the path just needs to be reset in appstartupsec.ini

The problem was with the back up file on my laptop. I did a system reset on the laptop reinstalled the backup and away and working again. I still want to unlock the Mio with visualgps or similar and then run the miomap and igoprimo. Is it an easy process the instalation guide for visualgps doesnt seem to explain the process
