There is always a risk involved, that's why i printed it's "Kill or cure" in the guide above...
It would seem you need PC software to talk to the device while it's in service mode to be able to send the firmware files via USB.
The device at the moment is a brick, there's a 50/50 chance of it remaining a brick!

OK I'll try this in the morning! Thanks for information. If I stuck I'll let you know!

what I did to kill it: format flash - which hanged the device.
Since then nothing works. The display stays black. Windows is not detecting the device. Pin 9 to ground does nothing.
I tried the Cobia method.. with Cobia_500_64, Cobia_500_64_NA or Cobia_500_64_AU folders but still nothing.
I tried also ON/OFF method again and again..nothing
I tried also conecting 2 3 pins of ON switch ..nothing, same with 1 2 pins.
Is there some cure for my mio device?
Thank you,
vanderkeb

Are we talking "My Flash Disk" or flashing a bad ROM?
If My Flash Disk is empty then the device goes to USB mode, it's possible you flashed a ROM which failed verification meaning you have no operating system installed, you should be able to flash again, or there is the possibility that there is a hardware problem.

JTAG is a solution for Mio Moov 500?
Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:37 pm
Yes if you have access to the cable and jtag software + firmware files, I suspect you wiped everything from the device including the bootloader, if you cannot get any life into it, then jtag is probably your only option

thank you for your answer. I will let you know when I'll start playing with jtag and my mio.

I suspect you'll have to explain that in detail to another member...

pc program diskgenius, detekted device when i was duing on-off button switch, so i made little playing with button, when stays in reset position for 5 sec, switch on, wait for orange picture, whait for yellow squares start switching between reset and on with delay but so small that in one point lcd goes black,in that moment go to on and right away off pc detects mio m400 as usb flash rom 2bg partition but i didnt see it in my computer, when i look in to diskgenius i saw disk with one partition but unreadable, i did rebuild partition in "MBR" mode with "whole disk" and "search all sectors" options and then recovery files with "from deleted partition" option, "save all" after all and i did reset and turn on, mio say no visual.ins i think, so i downloaded visuals and desktop from "visual_GPS_v115.01.rar" copyed it on again with "on,reset, on,off" copyed igo8 folder and files from restore folders, reset, on and its working, not fully, but my mio has igo that works, its still not recognized when pluged on pc, mio unlock and other programs dont see it but its working..

If you have file system access on your device, connect to the PC and run \windows\usbscreen.exe, it should go to connect mode.

You will need to do this on the device itself, you have no access to the windows directory from your PC, use total commander or similar.
