upto date map for tomtom one v8 30 series

Mon Feb 18, 2013 11:24 pm

hi
im a little new to this but have updated maps once or twice on a different device (1xl)...this is the second one 30 series which i just can not do successfully

its a tomtom one
tomtom website says its a 30 series ...ie the 1st 2 charecters are PE on the serial number
the original map was western europe 845.266
the nav core is 8.042
ttgo file says its v8

tom tom home suggests updating to 900.4608 (if i wanted to buy from them) but as i want to do it this way i have downloaded ur map 900.4608 and copied your meta info...
then backed up all files from the device to hdd then deleted the old map and ttgo file from device then used the easy tools 210 method to try to activate the map

but every time i turn the device on it says
you cannot use this map on this devicxe: Europe_1GB_West

do i need to change navcore too ????? if so which 1 is best

can anyone help

oh sorry if i have posted this question in the wrong place (if so admin move to correct place)

OH I MISSED THAT THE MAP I WAS ADVISED AND THE 1 I GOT IS
EUROPE 1GB WEST
this looks like it is a smaller map than the western europe map which would be too big in file size for my device

oh if it helps the when i use the easytools 210 it says it succesfully done the map so i cut the 3 files from the 'inset map from here' folder which i think should maker it work ...but it doesnt i get the messege as in my 1st comment above...im not sure if i need a new navcore though
can anyone help

thank you for your time tony123321

1. OK.
2. OK. This map is compatible with your current navcore.
3. OK.
4. Why did you delete the ttgo.bif file? It is required to patch the map.
5. Please use FastActivate 17.02.2013. It is very user friendly!!!
6. You just have a simple patching issue.
7. No. See point 2.
8. See point 5.
9. Confirm that your navcore is also patched.

hi
thanx for the reply
i can try the fast activate not sure how that one works as yet but i can read up on it

my next question is though
im guessing the navcore is original from new as of from tomtom itself .....so is that a potential problem???
can you use origiinal navcore along with a map from you and just patch the map
or do you still need to patch both map and navcore
or do you need to have navcore and map from you and then patch both

im a little niyeve about this can you help

once again thanx for your time

May I suggest to check our tutorial section?
Most of your questions are explained there.
In general you always need a patched Navcore for a downloaded map.

thank you both very much for your time
your a star
the fastactivate worked perfectly it does seem easier than the easytool method
im guessing now from your last comment its because the fast activate also patched the navcore

i can confirm it now seems to be working fine
i just need to update the postcodes and add speed cameras which i think is fairly straight forward now i have done the hard bit

yet again thank you very much for your time
i am a microsoft technician but a newbie to updating tomtom devices so if i can return the favour at any time i would be pleased to do so
