The 500 still uses a V7 Navcore.
The 900 map thread has a nice chart to show which map version works with what Navcore version.
You'll fin the map download in the same thread.
If you want to try make a backup and test my 9.485 Navcore with MB (Memory Boost).

Update: I have managed to install the latest 900 map on my TomTom.

I just wanted to know, will a map which has a 'meta' code next to the download link (http://www.navitotal.com/showthread....-Maps-900.XXXX) only work on the the TomTom device? Image

It depends on what you have in mind.

Which is the latest/best version for a TomTom Go 500 from the following:-

900.4600, 900.4601, 900.4602, 900.4608, 900. 4609 etc

Thanks

There is a very nice chart, in post 1 of the All New Maps 900.XXXX thread, that will explain the differences for you.

If you already installed the map it must be a correct choice,
but we still don't know what Navcore you use and what map ;)
In the tutorial section you will find addition infos on the different map features and some other usefull stuff.

I used your 9.484 navcore on my TomTom Go 500.
What's the difference between the following, as they both work fine on my device:-

United_Kingdom_and_Repuplic_Ireland_900.4602 [218MB] OR
United_Kingdom_and_Repuplic_Ireland_900.4602 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 900_4602
86 C0 91 59 2C 34 03 FC 97 12 06 0A 97 2B 4F 81 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-665.meta

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_900_4608 [169MB] OR
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_900_4608 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_900_4608
A7 7E AF C6 AD D4 E7 6E 21 72 A2 6C F3 53 14 37 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-670.meta
???
Thanks

I understand some map versions are not compatible with certain navcore versions, but why is their a big difference in the map file size?

2. Also, whats is a 'collection' map?

1. Different TT models have different size memories & function features. The different maps are built for the different models & their different features.
2. Look in any of the Map Collections Only threads & you will figure it out!

What are 'collection' maps?

What are they used for?

see post 11. Actually you don't need to look in the threads, just read the thread title correctly & you will have your answer.
