This is all very new to me so I have a stupid question. Do I format the TT before installing or just replace the maps folder?

No need to format the device, just copy over the new map

Navitotal NEVER recommends formatting a unit's internal memory or SD cards, except in the most critical situations!!!

Thanks for the info. The only map with that name I've been able to find is 971mb and I don't have enough space to copy and paste into the maps folder

Thank you!! A few more questions if you don't mind. Is the version number supposed to change after the new map has been installed? I've added a route that I know is approximately 6.5 hrs but my TT is still showing an 8.5 hr trip. I've changed every setting I know to change. Is there anything else you recommend I do or try? This is my first attempt at adding new maps to this and I'm learning,,,just slowly

1. You are Welcome!
2. That is what I am here for.
3. I don't understand what you are asking.
4. Keep in mind that your TT calculates the time based on the legal speed limit.
5. All you can do is put in a departure point & an arrival point, then answer any questions, that the unit might ask you. Let the device figure your route & off you go.

I put in the destination address on the TT and it gives me 8.5 hr trip, when I put it in on a Garmin it comes up with 6.5 hours and other TT( newer models) give me 6.5 hours so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. The version # is 8.083. The newer ones have a 9.??? version and they show the correct estimated times

You aren't doing anything wrong!!
I know nothing about Garmins.
TTs with 9.XXX navcores usually use a map with more features than what you can use. 1 of the main features is IQ Routes.
From Definitions For Dummies: IQ Routes....Intelligent Quick Routes, uses statistical analysis of 'real' users to plot best route & time. I have to think that this is where the time difference is coming from.
