Fastactivate hangs

Sun Jan 20, 2013 1:25 pm

I'm trying to update my Go 300 to 900.4608 Europe 1GB West. My navcore is 7903. I've tried using the latest premium version of Fastactivate but the program never gets beyond "TomTom Home patched." I've tried running Fastactivate from the root directory of the SD card and have include intergrated-meta.txt as well as the meta.txt.

I've updated my Go300 a few times based on your useful advice and resources , but this time I'm stuck. Have also tried Autoactivate, but to no avail. I've avoided Easytools v6.12 as virustotal.com gives a strong warning that it contains trojans - it does when I run it in a sandbox! Any help would be much appreciated.

1. you only need to patch Home for the simulation of your device, everything else works fine without patching
2. always make sure to use the latest version of FastActivate and not an old copy from your PC
3. if your Navcore is already patched and FA cretes a .dct file in your map folder you are good to go

FA does usually not hang or crash, so I assume it is either a problem on your PC or you use an outdated version of FA.
By the way: the old original Easyusetools by TTUSER still works fine if you can play DOS ;)

Many thanks for the speedy response. I have used the latest version of Fastactivate 15.1.2013 (downloaded) from Navitotal and also tried the two prior (2012) versions. I cannot generate a dct file with the Europe West 900.4608 or the Iberia 900.4608 maps. I guess you may be right about the PC issue so I'll try the whole process on another PC. Do you have a link to an older version of Easyusetools please?

For your EU map there is no meata code available.
What error message do you get from FA?

The meta code I have from Navitotal is
;Europe_1GB_West v900.4608
EC 2C 9D D1 C2 14 91 05 F4 EF AB 22 BD 1D 08 60 Europe_1GB_West-670.meta
I downloaded that specific mapset with the meta included.

I don't get an error message with FA it just doesn't progress beyond "TomTom Home patched." My PC runs Windows 7.

Thanks for your interest in this issue. I'm trying to solve the matter with another PC at the moment - will post if I solve the problem so as to help others.

I tried Fastactivate on an old Laptop running XP and it works! The dct file was generated and speedcams validated. For some reason my regular PC must block Fastactivate, if I find out why I'll add to this thread.

Many thanks to Downunder35M for suggesting the possible PC problem.

You're welcome!
We are always trying to eliminate possible sources of a problem before trying to solve it with force ;)

For future reference, put the current version of FA plus a copy of your ttgo.bif file in the map folder to patch the map.

Thanks for the input, but I'd tried putting FA and ttgo.bif in the map folders before sending the original query above. There is something blocking the latest FA and December 2012 versions on my PC - FA works fine on an old XP laptop.

As you said: your PC ;)
FA has no known problems like mentioned here.

The Navitotal TT Section has never & will never post ANYTHING with a trojan or virus in it. We have a reputation to protect.

Did you try right clicking FA & then "Run As Admin"?

Or try the XP mode if you have more than Win7 Home ;)

Dear tendriver,
My comments about easytools 6.12 were not intented as criticism of this forum - I like the supportive approach and good intentions here. I had tried runing FA as an administrator (ie right click etc), still no luck.

Dear Downunder35,
I'll try running under XP mode in future, as you point out the issue is my PC not FA. The problem is probably an environment variable on my particular PC that is inhibiting the program access.

Thanks guys - your efforts are much appreciated.

Your comment was not taken as criticism. My post was not a scolding, just an advisory!!!
