Benelux PDA map

Postby fgod1983 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 6:48 pm

hey guys,

i'm searching for a benelux map that can work on the tomtom one from my friend which has the 8.041 navcore with bootloader 1.0100. i installed the patched PNDNavigator file as said needed, and instead of previously not seeing the maps, it does see them now but saying it cannot be used(not activated, although fast activate says it is activated). i was trying all kinds of maps as it seems like all maps are causing problems...

but according to the topic of the patched PNDnavigator i need PDA maps, so i downloaded the pda compatible maps of benelux but there are no meta codes for them... so i did two things.

first i tried an older map which had meta code and should be able to work on PDA but although it got activated it still didn't work.

then i tried something i found in this topic ( http://www.navitotal.com/maps-v9xx-f179/tomtom-v930-meta-codes-t15575.html )

it was saying the following:

V930 MAPS WITHOUT META:
If you have a map that has no meta, you may be able to activate it if there is an equivalent meta.

Example:
1 - Download Western Europe 930.5563 and Western Europe 930.5605
2 - Copy Western Europe 930.5563 to Tomtom (without cspeech files, except own country)
3 - Delete Western Europe 930.5563 .meta file
4 - Copy the meta file of Western Europe 930.5605 that has meta code into map Western Europe 930.5563 folder
5 - Unlock the map with latest Fastactivate.

Delete all cspeech files for more space (except own country)

so that is what i tried with the benelux map and it did got activated again, but again same problem, cannot be used on this system...

so my question to you guys. what am i missing? or is there a certain map that i need to use for this system cause of the bootloader/navcore? the system is only 1gb internal memory so i cannot put most maps on it as they are too big...

greetz

You pretty well wasted your whole day. NONE of this applies to any Benelux map that is compatible with the 8.041 navcore. FYI, maps are navcore compatible, not device compatible.
The last 8.041 (compatible) & usable (has meta code) Benelux map is:

; Benelux v910.4952

like i said, i tried that one too, but still it is saying it is not usable although i activated it with latest fast activate and that is why i tried the meta code switch trick cause i wanted to try to get a newer benelux map to work that is compatible with navcore 8.041 but for some reason it all keeps giving the same error(not usable on this device)

OK, just so you don't waste any more of your time, you are stuck with 8.041. Benelux v910.4952 is the ONLY 8.041 compatible & usable map from the 910.XXXX edition forward.
Have you visually confirmed that the maps are actually being patched, by seeing a .meta file & a .meta.dct file in the map folder?

yeah the meta file and meta.dct are there and fast activate is saying it is oke and from what i know patching the navcore isn't needed as i have to use the pre patched PNDNavigator and even if i try to patch the navcore it says it is already patched... so that isn't the problem either

this is weird... for some reason when i removed the pre patched pndnavigator and reinstall the original it just boots and works with the Benelux 910.4952 map... starting to wonder if the newer would work too now with the meta code switch trick...

1. OK, quit while you are ahead.
2. NO! I repeat from post 2. NONE of that applies to any Benelux map that is compatible with the 8.041 navcore.
and from post 4. Benelux v910.4952 is the ONLY 8.041 compatible & usable map from the 910.XXXX edition forward.

weird cause tomtom home is saying i could buy the new 930.5601 map for it... ah well, i'm glad i got a newer map working anyway and if my friend wants the newest ones she should buy a decent model :p i mean, even my own tomtom one 3th edition has no problems at all and is even capable to do iq routes :p

1. It's not weird. Buying a map and using a patched map are done under different rules. A bought map comes from TomTom already patched for use only on the unit that it was bought for. The usability of a forum patched map is limited to those that we can get the meta codes for. Examples: there are 146 maps in the 930 Edition, but only 50 with meta codes, so roughly 1/3 of this edition are usable.
there are 146 maps in the 925 Edition, but only 63 with meta codes, so slightly more than 1/3 of this edition are usable.
2. Good plan.
3. Not having problems depends on the navcore/map combo, not the TT model. IQ routes & ALG also depends on the navcore/map combo, not the TT model.

yeah i know it depends on the navcore/map combo, but my model is good enough to use the newwer navcores without being too slow, having boot problems,... and my model is capable of updating the bootloader which is the problem with the tomtom one from my friend in de first place, cause the bug is causing it not to be able to update to newer bootloader/navcore ;)

and i know it depents on having meta of maps, but as stated in the other topic that is sometimes works, i was kinda hoping it would work here too. but my hope is set on next releases with meta codes for maps for pda (at least for the tomtom of my friend that is ;) )

A bug is not causing the issue. It is the result of the way TT refurbed the unit with nc 8.041 & bl 1.0100
