Get a 4GB SDHC card & you won't have to worry about map sizes for quite awhile. You will need to upgrade your bootloader before you can use a SDHC card.
Download & use this ... Instructions included.

thanks ....

Hello tendriver

I have some problems:

- bought a 4GB SDHC card
- with the old SD copied the bootloader 5.5128 (copied also in the new sd)
- copied the ttgo.bif
- installed navcore 9.510 for Go
- copied the map Western_Europe_1GB_955_6801
- used FAST

no error ... but when I put the SD in the TomTom nothing happen, it remains blocked qt the first screen.

After is asking to format the SD, tried directly with Tomtom .... does not work "impossible to format", formatted with windows (tried both FAT and FAT32) and reinstalled everything but still same issue.... tried also flash clear tool but nothing....

What I do wrong?

Thanks for help

For clarification: The 5.5128 must be installed using your old card, with a full setup, before you can use your new 4GB.
- with the old SD copied the bootloader 5.5128 OK

Boot your unit with the old card, then you should be able to use the 4GB card.

1. The map that you downloaded is EUROPE WEST 955.6745, not WESTERN EUROPE 955.6745.
2. Neither of those maps have a posted meta code & are not usable.

Thnaks tendriver, but:

- with the old SD with the old map and with old navcore copied the bootloader 5.5128 OK
- copied the ttgo.bif in the old SD OK
- installed navcore 9.510 for Go OK
- copied the map Western_Europe_1GB_955_6801 to the old SD not possible as the card is 1GB and the map is 1.24 GB

so what I should do?

Maybe that the problem is that I have used an SDHC card instead of a normal SD? GO reads only SD or with the new bootloader reads also SDHC?

Thanks

so what I should do?

Take the 955 map out of the old card & put the old map back into the old card..
Reboot.

So did this:

- copied the ttgo.bif in the old SD OK
- installed navcore 9.510 for Go on old SD OK
- copied the old map Western_Europe_1GB_815.2024 to the old SD withour POI as otherwise map too big
- copied the bootloader

put the old SD in Tomtom and everything is ok, Go starts well and have this parameter:

- App 9.510.
- 32Mb ram
- Boot 5.5128
- Map Western_Europe_1GB_815.2024

Then:

- copied the ttgo.bif in the new SD OK
- installed navcore 9.510 for Go on new SD OK
- copied the new map Western_Europe_1GB_955_68014 to the new SD
- ran FastActivate OK
- insert new SD into Totom and it remains blocked on the first creen with the Tomtom picture ... nothing happen

Did something wrong?

The maps are the only variable in this. remove the new 955 map from the new SDHC card. Copy the old 815 map to the new SDHC card.
Reboot. this will tell us if the new map is good or bad.

OK. Take everything off of the 4GB.
Copy the entire working setup, that is on the old card, as is/make no changes.
Paste the entire working setup, that you copied from the SD card, onto the SDHC card. as is/make no changes.
Do a 30 second "Hard Reset" & Reboot

done, copied on the new SD the "old" data, done e hard reset, to be precise:

Removed the SD card
With Tomtom off used a straightened paper clip to push the reset button for at least 20 seconds
Turned device on by pressing the On/off button for at least 5 seconds (drum sound ok)
Inserted new SD card with old data

Nothing... some problem it gets blocked on the screen with the Tomtom asking for the SD, the yellow bar on the bottom is not coming and tomtom doen't start...

just to make a test a put back the old sd with old data and is working....

Is the SDHC card a good quality major brand, like Kingston, Sandisk, ETC?
With the new setup on the 4GB card, please run this little program & post the results here. tomtom-tools-f127/tomtom-current-configuration-2011-t7501.html
