Re: TT One 3rd Ed V6 1GB - updating and adding maps

H,

I have just tried that - copied Fastactivate and TTGO.bif into each map folder, run them 2 and 3, then rebooted - still the same message!

Should I format the device when empty to make sure there are no hidden files?

Thank you yet again,

A

H,

I reformatted the device (FAT32 slow), reloaded everything and STILL have the same error message.

The navcore works fine - it tries to load the map (it says "switching...." etc.) but fails because the map is not compatible; surely this is a meta problem?

I don,t belive that it is a meta problem. As I said before I
installed 3 maps and the navcore.
Australia_980_7898
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_980_7895
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_980_7898
And it all works.

So somewhere on the line something it is going wrong but where ?
1. Empty One
2. Navcore installed
3. 15 sec reset and start One till anouncement You can,t use this map
4. Map on One in his one folder
5. FastAktivate.exe in root One
6. Use FastAktivate number 2
7. Disconnect from PC 15 sec reset and Start One

H,

I did everything again and still the same result.

Since both maps give the same error, could the navcore data be the problem? Is there another download site to try (not Zippyshare)?

Many thanks for all your help, and that of Fredderf too, but I really cannot see what the problem is and you have both given me so much help.

I have restored the One back to 8.016 Navcore (that is factory - works fine) - which is the best map to install - 965_7280?
Can I add Australia by patching with Fastactivate? If yes, which is the best file to laod with 8.016?

Cheers,

A

For the 8.016 you can use the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 965_7280
but this map is 9 month old
The newest map is United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 980_7971
For Australia is the newest map Australia 980_7901.
you can delete the cspeech files in the Australia map

First you patched the navcore 8.016 (FastAktivate no.3)
Wait for the anoucement navcore patched.
After that you can Aktivate the 2 maps at the same time (FastAktivate no.2)

H,

I tried the instructions in post 21 but it did not work.

I started with the device with the original factory 8.016 files plus FastActivate.
deleted the existing map folder
ran FastActivate/3
then reset for 15 seconds.
Restarted OK but did not give an error, just ordinary "no maps" page.
Reconnected to the PC
loaded the new maps
then ran FastActivate/2.
Disconnected from PC
reset and rebooted again.

The device boots OK but there are no maps at all - no error message, just ordinary page saying "no maps".
There was no announcement that the navcore patched OK.

Have I missed anything?

Thank you.

Ok, step by step:

1. Original NC 8.016 setup + FastActivate.exe (up to date 14-01-2017) copied to the root
2. Run FastActivate.exe from the root & select option 3...pause until you see patch successful message on FastActivate window like this:
..:: FastActivate 14/01/2017 ::..
________________________________________________________________________________

OK System patched ( ttsystem/PNDNavigator )

Press any key to continue . . .

Note if it's been previously patched it will say this:

..:: FastActivate 14/01/2017 ::..
________________________________________________________________________________

Your Navcore have been patched already

Press any key to continue . . .

3. Copy the two new maps to the device, each in their own folders. They can be named anything you like but must have no spaces or special characters
4. Run FastActivate.exe from the root & select option 2...pause until you see something like this in the FastActivate window:

..:: FastActivate 14/01/2017 ::..

Voice(s):

Press any key to continue . . .

5. Notice it says:
Australia-100939.meta => .dct OK
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-100985.meta => .dct OK
6. Close FastActivate and browse to the new maps folders on the device that were just activated.
7. Only after successful activation will there now be a new file created in each map folder called:
Australia-100939.meta.dct
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-100985.meta.dct
8. Reboot device and all should be good

H and Fredderf,

Success!

Sadly it was my bad - when running FastActivate, in the second window that shows all the options - there is a button "Quit", so I selected that, THEN input the command 2 or 3 in the empty window. That then closed, so I thought I had run FastActivate.

Critically there was no announcement saying what FastActivate had done - H your last post mentioned the announcement and that was the clue!

Of course the correct way is to use the mouse to select the required command from the menu list in the second window.

So all the trouble was me not understanding how to use FastActivate.

Many thanks for all your help and patience.

I have made a donation to the site - thank you again.

Finaly a succesfull end. I have send you a PM but you can forget that :023:
I suppose you use NC 8.016. You can try the NC 9.510 32 MB ram to. You don,t have to use FA no 3 because it is
already patched only 2 for activate the maps.

Hooray!

A few final thoughts....

1. For the UK & ROI you'll need to update the postcode files on the device. To do that you need to create a folder on the device called 'zip' and extract the contents of [Please Register or Login to download file] file into it.
2. You'll also want to add the latest Speed Camera files for each countries map. Download the archive from this page and follow the instructions given.
3. As Holyhead has already mentioned, you might want to try NC 9.510 again as it will allow the use of more advanced maps. See the tutorial here
