hi , thanks you, but I think these recent maps won't work with my old ONE 30 SERIES. I will try though.

Off course it works with the One.
Tell us which one and what navcore you use
Internal memory or SD slot or both

Thanks again. This is a PExxxxxx serial number, => TomTom ONE 30 Series with (internal) 1GB memory.

I have already tried some 9xxx or 10xxx maps (+flashactivate), and got some "not usable map" messages. Maybe I got it wrong with the available meta codes.
The thing is, I haven't currently any map on this device. In that configuration, the navcore version won't display. I guess it is a 8.042. Is there any way to double-check the navcore version by searching on the TT filesystem ? Feel free to tell if I should ask this question on a another thread.
Tom

If it is navcore 8.042 then it is difficult to get a recent map.
So you have to find France 970_7490 wich map is nearly 3 years old

Check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

thanks.
so.. yes, this is a 8.042. My understanding is that it won't be able to get recent maps ?

I have exactly the same problem with a Tomtom One 30 Serie. Tomtom refuses to sell these cards in some countries via Tomtom Home so it is impossible to find a metacode to patch a new version map. This is forbidden by law in some countries but Tomtom does it.

And since July 1 2018, speed has been changed from 90km/h to 80 km/h on most roads in France. So with oldest map a device can no longer calculate the time of the routes.

See posts topic21162.html and [Please Register or Login to download file] . I suppose the serial number of your device start with PN.

So it is time for a new device what you expect from a device wich is more then 10 years old (live time support ?).
You can still buy a second hand device on ebay and use free map so long it last.

The maps exist. The device works perfectly. Why Tomtom refuses to sell them to some customers? All this only generates pollution and unnecessary expenses. Tomtom only wins that I will find an other brand.

This is forbidden by law in France and it's simply ecological.

Start a courtcase or go to a consumersprogram on TV but I think it is not interesting.
I think TomTom got a sleepless night when you buy another brand.
Be a little more realistic your one is over.

No fairytale, please

You can,t buy a map from France for your device (navcore 8.042)
The map has IQ routes and Alg and is suitable for navcore 9.00x and Higher
Navcore 8.042 don,t have that.

It is only possible to use a higher navcore but so far a know that is not possible
for navcore 8.042 (because of the bootloader) what is your bootloader?

According to the compatibility tables you just have to have the cards version 1025.9390, 1025.9391, 1025.9392, 1025.9432 or 1025.9434. I downloaded country maps in these versions whose meta code is known and it works. The problem for France is that the sale is blocked by Tomtom and the meta code can not be found. (function available in FastActivate).
I copied all the meta codes found on the internet into a Excel ile using the CSV mode. I was able to extract all the cards whose available code is compatible with the device (Navcore 8.083)
Tomtom will just want us to throw our devices in the trash for new ones instead of giving us access to EXISTING MAPS.
(Simply look this post maps-v1xxx/tomtom-v1025-map-collection-t21099.html)
Sincerely yours.

We do have maps and meta codes for France, however the ones we have are not compatible with these navcores

Usually we'd suggest upgrading the navcore but TomTom had problems with these particular devices so they had to release some of them with a specially made bootloader & navcore which makes that problematic. It might be possible but it depends on the version of bootloader installed.

Holyhead has already asked you both which version of bootloaders (not navcores) you have installed:

thomasv = no reply
cscratchy = no reply

cscratchy - these devices are very old now so TomTom has stopped supporting these (and many others models too) because they deem that they've reached their 'End of Life'. There are very many people who are upset about this but there is not much that can be done about it...c'est la vie
