Map Upgrade for TOMTOM GO 710

Postby pviolini » Sun Dec 25, 2022 9:25 pm

Hello,

I'm trying to update my TomTom GO 710 (Bootloader 4.86/Navcore 7.903/GPS 1.21) but up to now every map I tried it's not seen by the device (Maps Not found error).

I'm trying to install a Western_Europe_1G type map.

Perhaps I should upgrade the Navcore and the boot loader but I'm not been able to find a working link to download a newer version.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

Exactly which map are you trying to activate...and is it compatible with your navcore?

I tried Western_Europe_1GB_1070_10939.

I copied it on a 2GB sd card (in a folder named "Western_Europe_1GB") but my TomTom says "No Maps Found"

So I'll assume you've activated it and patched the system with FastActivate...

Copy ttgo.bif from the internal drive to the SD card and try again

Thank you fredderf and holyhead.

Eventually I managed to activate the map with the old bootloader and Navcore.

Probably my mistake was to run Fastactivate on the TomTom connected via the docking station and perhaps in this way the Navcore patch didn't work.
I tried directly on the SD card and it worked.

I downloaded the new Navcore and Bootloader but, with the map working I'm still undecided if I'll give it a try or not.

In any case, thank you again.

Go on, you know you want to try. After all, what could possibly go wrong (that the experts here couldn't resolve for you anyway)??

PS First do a FULL WINDOWS backup of everything then have a play
