Re: map tomtom one (8.010)

The difference in size between 644 and 641 is nearly 37mb
Removing the cspeech_France file will give you an extra 57mb back.
In my opinion you'll have with 641 a more detailed map ?

France_1000_8641 466 mb cspeech file 53,4 mb zonder 412 mb

fredderf :
Sorry mate but 1000.8644 isn't compatible with NC 8.010...this one's going to need an NC update and then better to use 1000.8641?

holyhead :
You are right the one has no use for cspeech and TTS so I prefer the 1000_8644. I think he has some advice on an other forum becourse off
the answer from pe1agp.

holyhead :
Recommended Map
France 1000_8644
1) Make a backup of your Device and delete the content.

me:
therefore, I found the password and I have the map 8644, which corresponds to the tutorial .

This map is 8644.

backup with tomtom home, done !...
another backup to do, ?...I understand, copy the file "content"
I do not have a file "content" ? ...file helpcontent ?

1) Make a backup of your Device and delete the content.
This means make an empty map on your computer and copy everything including map) from the one to this empty map.
This is your backup so you can alway,s back if something go,s wrong.

A backup via Home is not trustworthy.

the "language barrier" means that we do not understand each other.

what I want to explain is that I'm looking for a file called "content"
but it seems that's not it?
in this video, it deletes all the files ??? tomtom?
he says delete all files, not folders.

that's it ?

If the one is empty then you follewing instruction from number 2.
Forget the official tomtom instructions you are not on the tomtom site.
You have to overcome the language barrier becourse this site is Englisch.

:046:

When Holyhead says contents he means all of the contents of the device

In French: tout le contenu de l'appareil

Anyway, as Holyhead says...if the device is now empty, you have completed step 1

....continue following his tutorial from step 2

I see your tomtom, you do not have the same number of files?
I really erase everything?
files and folders? how will the tomtom to start after?
on the video youtube (above), we see that it only erases files not folders, you understand that I hesitate (post"35")
I controlled the capacity of the totom one, I have to erase the 398 MB?

He is affraid his TomTom won't start after cleaning, format or deleting all files in memory
He don't understand how a normal computer start via the BIOS.

Legaucher remember your TomTom will start up via the Bootloader which is stored in an eeprom
It's just the same as the BIOS in your computer, even without a single program your computer will start and your TomTom wil start too without
BUT, your TomTom and your computer will start only to control and activate the hardware and will stop with an error announcement.
Even when the ttgo.bif is removed, your device will write a new ttgo.bif file, don't worries.

Forget the whole YouTube instruction video and like fredderf also wrote, follow holyhead his instructions from point to point
How difficult could it be to format your One when it's seen as an extra drive.
Forget also for the moment TomTom Home, you realy don't need it.

Have trust in holyhead and fredderf, despite we've not always the same point of view, but they are the most trustfull friends, sure yours too.
In the time you've spent now we would have updated at least 100 TomTom One's

Goodluck anyway.

sorry to have shown my fear.
now that it is well explained, if it's like a pc, ok, I know very well what it is a pc, the bios is used to start and launch windows, ok.
I delete everything, I am the tutorial and you report the result.
thanks to all this great team
