SatNav in P38 Range Rover

Fri May 10, 2013 2:34 pm

Love this site, use the IGo maps in my ST150 Fiesta.

Have a good one for you chaps...

I have purchased an ancient P38 Range Rover that has a CD-ROM SatNav (Disk in Boot). It has a 2001 disc in it, you can get up date disks on Ebay but most don't work.

Was wondering if the maps and folders are on this site and I can burn them to a CD and use in my car???

Any clue?

Thank you

Rachel

Hi
Not sure what maps they use, you need to also know what version of the Range Rover sat nav you have.
If memory serves me right there are three versions, and they are not interchangable.
I know they use Alpine hardware but dont know what software they use.
Bmw discs are also compatable but then they wont do the off road part that the Rangie does
not sure any updates are worth while.
I had a P38 and even tried to put a chinese double din instead of the headunit and sat nav screen but there is not the room behind the screen to fit one.

You could fit a chinese or similar single din with a flip up screen quite cheaply and then use Igo8 or primo from this site which would be much better.

It gets more complicated if you have the Harmon Karmen stereo as OEM as all the speaker wires will have to be rewired but it is doable
