First try without the map initialization error was with the official (payed) iGO Primo 2.5.5 app downloaded from the Apple app store
Second try when i started to get the Map initialization error was with the version i downloaded from [Please Register or Login to download file]

Any ideas how to solve this license issue?
Will i have the same license issue if i download and use the app from the link in the opening post of this thread?

Do i need to do something in or with the app before it accepts custom maps? Like make an account or download something from the in app shop? Would it matter if i only copy over the .fbl files or should i also use the other files that come with the download like the .fpa, .fsp, .ftr, hnr, and .3dl/3dc files?

Sorry for all the questions but i'm clueless why something that basically is copying 1 file over another doesn't work for me while it oviously works for others... i must be doing something wrong but i don't know what. :022:

I would love to try that one out but the link gives a "This webpage is not available" error.

Ok it worked at home, company network wouldn't let me download it.

Now i have the 6238724.rar file and i don't know what to do with it. I read to the 3 pages and the only thing what i found is that you're suppose to rename the downloaded file to .ipa which doesn't work. When downloaded my computer recognizes it as a WinRAR archive, and the computers says it's still a WinRAR archive after i renamed it to 6238724.ipa (iFunBox doesn't recognize this file as an .ipa either)
Tried to instal the .rar but that doesn't work. When i look inside the .rar it doesn't have a the usual .ipa file structure inside.
So excuse me for my prolly stupid question but what am i suppose to do with the 6238724.rar file?

You're doing it wrong. Re-naming the rar file to ipa is correct but you use iTunes to install it not iFunbox. IFunbox is used to change the contents if needed. I'm assuming that your iPhone is Jailbroken - right?

I'm totally sorry but I'm afraid i don't follow you.
I have an iPad Mini non retina running iOS 8.1.1 (jailbroken) here.
Which SD card and what device settings to which path?

Don't worry about settings and path. Just follow post #23.

Just changing the file extension of the rar file to .ipa doesn't work as iTunes wont recognize the file and doesn't add it to the library. When i extract the rar with WinRAR en then archive it again but then with the .ipa extension iTunes does recognize the file but i get the "iTunes can't add 623874.ipa to the iTunes library as it is not a valid app" error message
(i have Dutch iTunes installed so the error message i typed here is not exactly as it shows on the screen)

btw yes my device is jailbroken and have been able to successfully instal any .ipa so far.

What version of Winrar are you using? Should be 4.01. Also, unless I'm wrong, your IPAD doesn't have a GPS chip. So how are you going to use it for navigation?

Hmmm! I've always been able to use the iGO.ipa with iTunes with no problem. Why you're having a problem, I don't know. Are you trying to add the ipa to iTunes from your computer instead of a USB stick? Should be from the computer I think.

iPad's with cellular do have GPS chips, the WiFi only models don't have a build in GPS chip.

I don't know whats wrong. I downloaded the 6238724.rar file you linked to and changed the extension to .ipa (which works now, totally forgot that i had not yet enabled "show known file extensions" on my windows 8.1 machine)

I currently have WinRAR 5.01 installed but i don't really see how that matters as WinRAR is not involved in any steps as i described in this post.

The one thing that i do find a bit odd though is that the file structure of the downloaded 6238724.rar is completely different then any other iOS app. There's no payload folder for one.

First of all, in post #26, didn't you say that you unrared the program and re-rared it? Something like that. The new Winrars do not properly work well with igo. Use 4.01 only - the earlier ones anyway. I gave you the wrong Primo. I'm sorry, please forgive me. I don't know where my head was at. Here's the correct one for Apple devices - iOS.

I did unrar en then achived it again as .ipa before i realized i had the hide extensions in windows turned on. Once i turned that off i was able to change the extension from rar tot ipa without problems, so no need for WinRAR.

Hehe you're forgiven :)
Now that IPW.ipa makes a whole lot more sense. I opened that ipa and copied all the data from the TomTom 2014Q2 download into it. Then i installed the ipa package without problems.

It works.. kinda..
The app loads the content just fine and i can see the map, plan routes and navigate. But the app randomly crashes quite often while on different screens. (open the store always seems to crash the app)
Every time i start the app i get the first start welcome message and the initial setup wizard. The app doesn't seem to save any settings i make.

Besides that it's an old app so screen resolution/scaling is an issue on modern iOS devices (not full screen and low resolution). One does miss out on various options and features compared with Primo app 2.5.5

I will definitely play some more with this IPW package but i doubt it will become my main navigation app.
Did someone ever get custom TomTom or HERE maps and content working with iGO Primo 2.5.5 with the licence issue solved? It would be awesome if we could use the custom more recent TomTom maps on the new iGO 2.5.5app.

iGO Primo app had 3 updates in 2014 and yet it still uses maps from 2013Q4..why??
