XL350m set owner

XL350m set owner

Postby dartfb » Mon Dec 26, 2011 10:52 pm

Got a new XL350m (canadian) for present and was trying to put security code on it. There is no set owner showing while operating with TThome like my go720. Does this model support this function?

AFAIK almost every TT model supports this.
But for some of the newer models it seems to be discontinued in the Navcore.
If security is vital for you, contact the supplier or TT to swap it for a model which still has this feature.
As a note on the side : I think the 720 is still the better option ;)

The Set Owner feature is not included in the new "2 Button" menus.

I know you got this unit as a present, but IMHO, it is a downgrade from your 720.

Anyone experienced with this model know if the navcore can be changed to one with this feature? this unit comes with lifetime map updates. 2nd unit for 2nd car.

Or should I exchange it for a different model? If so what your model recommendation?

I would look for another 720 or a 730, even if they are refurbs!! FWIW, Downunder has a 730 & I have a 720.

Have to agree...
These new modes can be a pain when it comes to modifications and bring no real benefit compared to a 720/730 - even the 520/530 is still better.
Some people want a GPS with a big screen as they think it is better. But once on the windscreen of a small car you will see it does not look good.
Only if you get a full featured new model with a life time map guarantee and you are not interested in user modifications you could buy it ;)

Exchanged the unit for an XL330s that has the set owner feature. this unit does not have the latest map.
BL=5.5136 , NC=unknown , current map= 835.2423 USA+CDA (862mb) Really only drive in Cda so Alaska/Cda map would do. Which current one would I use to get the most features of this unit and why so I can select future maps.
Thanks.
