Ask Tomtom - with so many useless devices popping up it is hard to keep a track on the technical details. ;)
IMHO it is just money making as I don't think anyone would need several identical devices that only differ from the installed software.

Even with 64mb it would be hard to get TTS working if the device has no support for it with the original Navore.
It is an XL problem and a second hand 720 or 730 would still be my choice but not a XL ...

The 340-S does come with TTS standerd altho i would also prefer a 720 or 730 as the 340-S only has 1GB internal memory

XL335S is exactly the same as the 340, except for the map. And the 335S and the 340S have 2 GB internal memory and 64MB flash memory.
Don't know about the 330; it may be 32MB.
