Western & Central Europe map 850.2800 too big for Tomtom One

Postby jokskot » Fri Jul 23, 2010 6:40 pm

The latest WCE 850.2800 (2.2GB) map will not fit on my Tomtom One IQ (2GB capacity).

Tomtom home web page states 850.2800 to be the update for WCE 845 2645(1.8GB) and implies that if downloading from Tomtom one would store it all on the PC and only install required "zones" onto the device.

How do I work round this as previously downloaded maps have all fitted on the device and have been keygened on the device and then backed up to the computer.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere.

850.2800 is a clone map, all available maps are in the map topic HERE

Here is a statement from another forum

Attention!
There are 4 clones of the same map:

Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_850.2800
Western_and_Central_Europe_850.2800
Europe_2GB_850.2800
Europe_850.2800

Each of them has only 3 files which differs:

tables.dat - different md5 in each map

and for obvious reason:

Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-161.meta
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB.pna

Western_and_Central_Europe-161.meta
Western_and_Central_Europe.pna

Europe-161.meta
Europe.pna

All else files - just identical! So, if you have one of these clones - you don't need others!

Thanks to all for responses.

Notwithstanding info elsewhere, WCE 850.2800 size 2264MB is available ex Tomtom and is not fake.
Can info about clones found on other site be believed?
The file I have got is much the same size as the stated size of official Tomtom one, so I feel reasonably confident its authentic-ish!

Have deleted cspeech files and still far too big.

Still need a work around to get it functional on my device.....any ideas, anyone?

The info posted on the other site is correct,

There is no way for you to get this to work on your device if you have delited the cspeech files and any other unnecessery things like mp3s on your device , it is silly that tomtom offer this as a 2GB map but it is 2264.2 MB on theyer website,

I reccomend to you this map "Western & Central Europe 2GB 850.2834 [1.70GB]" this still has iq routes + alg ;)

You select the filehoster (e.g. Rapidshare) and klick on download - the file will than be downloaded on your PC.
For the map and Home I think this is one of the new features.
Home downloads the complete map for the region but for devices with limited storage Home will intall only a part of the map.
This explains the "clones" as well : in the original it is only 1 map and the "clones" are part of this map.
Therefore I would say that even if the other files are the same it is still possible that the content is different.
All maps labeled "2GB" should fit on devices with 2GB of memory, including a Navcore. So the normal 2800 should be bigger in filesize (as long as the files are original and not just one map file with the 3 files exchanged).

This map, by definition of fake & clone, is neither.

The info from the "other forum" is correct, and is only an advisory, stating that if you download any one of the listed 4 maps, you dont need to download either of the other 3.

Thanks...as always for a clear and informative response. I'd still like to get to the bottom of using "zones" of WCE 850.2800, as advocated bt TT on my 2GBOne IQ, though!!

Kind regards J
