The versions of TomTom navigator available from this site are already patched, the ttsystem file is a Linux executable.

just leaves me needing a map then now as it cant find it and therefore i cant get any further

I had put it in the wrong folder all sorted now.

Just set up the GPS port and baud, you will want "Other NMEA Receiver", then select the baud rate and com port for your device.
