Sun Mar 03, 2013 12:57 pm

Hi
please can anyone help a beginner .
How do I put Tomtom truck mapping on my chinese Win CE 6.0 device running the Igo navtec q3 truck mapping ?
Do i just copy Tomtom truck maps straight to the Igo map folder, I don't suppose its that easy.
Any help please.

You don't as Tomtom uses Linux and not CE.
Igo and Tomtom and different types of software, so it is not possible what you try.
Igo need Igo maps and Tomtom needs Tomtom maps.

thanks for reply but what is this thread found elsewhere ?
Truck iGO Primo 2012 / TomTom Truck Maps Europe FTR/FBL/FDA/FPA/HNR

LOL, ok I forgot about that.
That is a dedicated IGO map but the map provider is Tomtom (they bought quite a few map providers over the last few years).
So if you after that map I suggest to check our IGO section instead.

As long as it's not a legal version of iGO (probably not on a Chinese device) you just replace the existing maps with the newer maps, it is that easy!

Make a note of the file extensions of the original maps and what folders they're in, and be aware that navteq have extra files that tomtom doesn't have, don't worry too much about those, for truck routing the minimum required is .fbl and .ftr in the map folder, .poi in the poi folder if you want poi's.

Thanks for that,
have downloaded navteq truck 2012 q3 europe to on chinese device,
have got Tomtom map 900.4612, do I simply put it into navtec map folder.?
Thanks for your patience, takes a while to sink IN !

You've got it all wrong, you cannot use maps from the tomtom sub forum with iGO, go to the iGO map sub forum and download tomtom from there.

Some time ago, tomtom bought teleatlas, now they have rebranded it to tomtom.

If you have the correct map you will end up with .fbl .ftr .poi files.

Delete (backup!) the existing .fbl .ftr .poi files and copy in the new files.
