TomTom Start stuck on start screen

Postby MacSpook » Sun Nov 16, 2014 9:22 pm

Hi all
I was recently given a tomtom start 1EX00 that was freezing on the start screen. After many attempts at formatting and installing different cores I formatted it to fat and connected it to tomtom home2 on my pc. Home2 updated it to navcore version 8xxx and then a further update to version 9.057. I then installed "United Kingdom and ROI 905.4800_Installer" from a link on this forum (thanks) I then ran the latest FastActive to patch the map and update the meta.txt. I also installed UK postcodes. I can run the emulator and navigate using postcodes in Home but when I disconnect and try to start it sticks on the tomtom start screen. What am I missing?

Any help would be appreciated cheers.

1. OK.
2. 935 is the current usable map Edition. 905 is way out of date.
3. This was not necessary. The installer, that you mentioned, also patches the map during the installation process.
4. "Operate My Device" is, as you say, just an emulator/simulator & can not be used as a troubleshooter.
5. You did not mention patching the navcore. FastActivate option 3

2 ) Before you installed the UK map, did your device start up till "no maps found"?

If yes, you probebly have a problem with the UK map. Check if there is a file mapsettings.cfg in your map. If yes, delete it. If no, just try another map.

.... and it looks like you have more than one map installed. You don't have any problem with the other map (s)?

There is no meta availeble for both maps. And without a meta, the maps won't work. Also there are no alternatives available:

viewtopic.php?t=16458

Try downloading Western_Europe_1gb 940.5993. For this one there is a meta available.

Because it does not have a meta code & is not patchable at this time.

You probebly try to activate it with an equivalent meta. See the post about activate maps without meta in the link. But that only works if the importent files in both maps are equal. There only might be a difference in the "extra's" files like Cspeech.

If files like cline.dat or cname.dat are different in size, activate with another meta won't work or wiil result in problems like you had.

ok I understand the problem , it's not very easy and thank you again to take time to answer to me ! another problem I think that my tomtom is now very old, and it's time perhaps to change it....!!
But sincerely thank you very much !!
I will wait to see if a meta matches in a few days...
have a good day

Your device might be a bit old, but if you change the software/navcore into a navcore 9.xxx you can still use it with the latest maps and all the extra's. Cause there aren't so many devices with 20gb internal storage.
But because a GO910 is a bit "special", you better ask tendriver which navcore is most suitable for a GO910 and is suported by Navitotal. Cause here at Navitotal they only support there own navcores and I can understand why. Thats because there is so many stuff around and not all that good

So wait for his reaction.

See you later.
