TomTom XL IQ Routes, Add European Maps

Hi,
been trying to put european maps I downloaded Europe_West_865.3244 but keep getting no maps found. After alot of time trying to patch and searching for answers it looks like i downloaded the wrong maps for my navcore.
1: Can I uprgrade my navcore to 9.0XX to make these maps work on my tomtom?? If i can is it a case of downloading navcore 9.0XX, extract the files, copynpaste to tomtom root and overwrite the existing navcore files on tomtom.
2: do i need to delete the united kingdom and republic of ireland v860.3101 maps currently on tomtom as the maps above contain the UK ans Ireland maps??

App 8.562 OS:331278 GPSv1.20 Boot 5.5277 map united kingdom and republic of ireland v860.3101

The 8.562 navcore will not run the 865.3244 maps. This map requires navcore version 9.02x or higher.
The 865.3245 or the latest 870.3406 maps are both full featured IQ maps and will run on your navcore or any navcore 8.2x or higher.

all sorted, downloaded the correct maps
deleted old eng/ireland map folder on tomtom and transferred downloaded map folder to root of tomtom
copied eng fastactivate to root of tomtom
ran fastactivate exe in root of tomtom and clicked on 1 update meta.txt
2 maps/voices/speedcams
3 ttsystem/PNDNavigator
4 tomtom home
shutdwon and restsrt tomtom and maps were activated. Thanx for help
