As I clearly stated in post 26 line 2, you can't do this, because the .ori file has different values from the .bak file.

BIF:

DeviceName=TomTom ONE

BootLoaderVersion=55130
LinuxVersion=547200
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9205
ApplicationVersion=547817.1

BAK:

RamDiskVersion=20100702
BootLoaderVersion=55130

Confirm that the .bak file name is now ttgo.bak & not ttgo.bak.txt.

Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:10 pm

ttgo.bak = File Type BAK, NOT Txt

Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:20 pm

still no ttgo.ori in root

Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:25 pm

Make a copy of your ttgo.bak and rename it to ttgo.ori ....

Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:29 pm

Still error on tt home boot up about using the wrong version

Put copies of your ttgo.bif & ttgo.bak files on your desktop. Delete the ID & serial number from each, then post them as attachments.

I'm in the process, they're small files but for some reason taking FOREVER!!

Well I did say that I would still follow the thread.
And the good news is that the ttgo.ori file this time created itself.

The only thing I did differently was after altering the values in the ttgo.bif file then when selecting the "Save As" function was to change the "Save as type:" from the drop-down menu to "All Files" then just save it with the complete name of ttgo.bak (including the extension .bak) (although TBH it should not have made any difference than just changing the ttgo.bak.txt to ttgo.bak) but that's computers for you.

Then after re-booting the ttgo.ori file appeared.

However, the bad news is, whilst it stops the annoying message in Home of wrong navcore version etc it still reverts to wanting the basic information re-input each time and some additional maps on the card are still not being shown so I am better off putting up with the wrong version message sooner than have to keep re-inputting settings each time Home is used and each time re-inputting the settings in the actual TT as well. (although it's not that often)

So definitely as I said before, it works without any problem and even updates the map share files, so I can put up with the annoying message of wanting a file/wrong navcore version.
(Home is not used for anything else, or is it?)

I've been at work since 7p last night and it's 10am now. My battery is going to die on laptop. I didn't bring charger cause I never work this long per shift. anyway, I'll have to finish it tonight/torrow AM. Here is the text in the BAK & BIF files though. If you still need me to upload them I will tonight..'Thanks again!
PS. Still uploading the first file! It's taking a looong time for a small file...

Over 25 minutes for a 2.78 KB file!! Try more tonight...

Yep, I'm looking for the files, not the contents.

@romtang :
I suspect that your bootloader is incompatible with your device, causing the USB transfer to be slow and stop for minutes.
Please unpack this file oto the root of your device and restart. Make sure you are using a charged TT and don't interrupt the bootloader install!
3164
It will revert your bootloader back to the 5.5112 which should solve your USB problem but gives you full use of SDHC cards.
Please report back if it was working and for future Navcore installations make sure to delete the file system before the first start of your TT.
