TomTom one new navcore and map?

TomTom one new navcore and map?

Postby scrat95 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 11:12 am

Hello,

A friend of mine has bought himself a TomTom One and asked me if it is possible to upgrade the navcore and put a new map in it. I don't know what version it is because i haven't seen it myself and he doesn't know how to find it out either. Also i haven't found any information on TomTom One's anywhere.

Soo here is the question, is it possible to put a new navcore and map to the internal memory of a TomTom One.
Thank you in advance :)

1. If you don't have the device and it is not yours anyway : don't touch it if you don't know 100% what you are doing!
Noone should offer "services" if he has no clue about about it ;)
2. "Also i haven't found any information on TomTom One's anywhere." - Can't true as there is more than enough info available, including quite a few thread with TT ONE in the title.
3. Tell your friend to check our tutorials, the Navcore section and the current map thread - after that he should be able to update his device with no problems.

The thing is that he ain't really computer savvy. I have allready put a new navcore and map on my own TomTom One XL, but because that i did on a memory card then it was alot easyer :D
Also about the info, everything i have read is about putting a SD card in it and putting the navcore and map on that. I haven't found anything on putting the stuff on the internal memory.
I just wanted to know if it was possible, nothing more. If it is ill let him know about the risks and let him decide.

There is no real difference between internal memory and a SD, procedures stay the same.

Could really use some help :P
Just got my hands on the device, its a 3rd edition 512mb 4N01.000 has 29MB of RAM :/ . The map i would like to use is Russia_Baltics_Finland_910_4892, as i see from the chart i need a navcore 9+ to use it. Have a version 9.026/053/071 (currently using 071 on mine) could i use any of those 3 or should i use a newer version?.

Also worst case scenario, i mess something up the GPS doesn't turn on, can i use the backup of the original files to get it working? :P

1. It is just as easy to update the internal as it is a SD card.
2. Copy 071 from your device to the ONE. Remove the old map folder. Copy in the new map folder. Patch the map with FastActivate.
3. Yes. Use Copy & Paste, not TT Home, to create a backup.

Soo the fact that they are different devices doesn't mess things up?

Now, the device turns on, but when i tap the screen to get to the menu it freezes and after a few secs reboots. Honestly, don't know what to do :/
Also when turning off i get the image attached below. I remember i got that when i upgraded my ONE XL a few years back, but don't remember what i did to fix it. :P

Best option is to install the Navcore the correct way.
What do you want to fix about the warning?

Ok then, but are there any major changes between navcore v9.071 and (the latest?) v9.510?

EDIT:
Did a clean install of version 9.071 on the ONE, still freezes and reboots.
Also did a clean install on my ONE XL for version 9.510 also froze and rebooted
Can't even try with navcore v8's because the map i need doesn't work with it :/
Any TT ONE users out there who are using a navcore v9+? :D

Only a few XL Live models are known to have some problems with my Navcores, all standard ONE and XL models work just fine with the Memory Boost version.
Did you try a Hard Reset, followed by the TT Clear Flast Tool and the Navcore installation through Home?
After that your device should boot as normal and complain about missing maps.
