TomTom One Live (N14644) can't hold maps?

Postby pilotman » Fri Dec 25, 2015 1:40 am

After a long time before upgrading (previous 8.083 Navcore and map US840-2570) I tried to add a new map. It appears that the 1G maps that cover the US (960.0777 for example) won't fit on the device. When I try to load the maps with the self-installer version, the loading stops before completion. I don't want to go to the smaller regional maps but maybe that's my only choice. Any advice?

Accept the mimits of your device or get your soldering iron out and add an internal SD card.

The US 1GB 960.0777 was just slightly too large. I then tried a map that was smaller - Eastern US and Canada 960.0777, loaded it onto the One but unfortunately there's no meta code for it - FastActivate loaded the map but didn't create a .dct file. The One loads so slowly that this is a real pia but I'll find a 960.0777 that will work.

edit - The available 960.0777 maps are all too large. I'm using navcore 8.083 on the One. Would a newer navcore save a little space so that I could use one the maps that won't fit now? The universal navcore installer offers 9.51. Would this work on the old One?

After a few tries here is the best I could come up with. The maps are becoming so large that regional maps seem to be the only option for the 1G One in the US.

Navcore 8.083
Map Eastern US & Canada 960.7075

With a 1 gb device switching to downunder's 9.510 navcore will only cost you about 100 mb.
Stick to the official nc and find yourself a map with meta and which is small enough.
Not much more you can do.

That was my first attempt but the 100mb ruled out all the maps that covered all the US. I kept 8.083 then tried regional maps until I found the one that covered the most area around where I live. I also have a GO 910 which has plenty of space. On it, I'm using 9.510 and the US 2GB 960 map.

Right, that's exactly what I would do.

Haha, GO 910 with the 20 gb hd... Ample space for whatever one could desire.

Unfortunately the map file is over 940MB - too much for the One.

It's a 834.42MB download. Did you download it to confirm it's 940MB??
