X40light2 & X40light3 save RAM by shutting down features

Yes, correct.
By the way, do you remember which features are removed in the x40light2 & x40light3 modes?

Sure. Basically there are 3 things:

1) You have to make sure you have an SE navcore that works well with ONE models - one that is RAM friendly.
2) You need to have the right Vocalizer TTS voice that will work well with ONE models. You just copy the folder into the root of the device. I have a modified version of "Samantha" which is very clear and works extremely smoothly - no noticeable lag.
3) You need to make sure you delete the line "ttsoff" in the setconfig.txt file found in the Config folder or the root of the device.

I can make a more detailed tutorial if you like and upload a couple of Vocalizer TTS voices that I've tested with success.

Thanks for the quick reply..Currently, I just downgraded back to 8.010 SE and it works well with TTS ( VocalizerTTS folder) , I will try again with 8.562, but I wanna know:

1) Will the LoquendoTTS folder/method works at all for 8.562 or any other version ( I did try , but seems not to work due to the 32MB problem ? ) ; however some people, threads claim it works !!!

2) Now I see the lane guidance , and ASR ( advance speech recog - still dont know what this one is ) Do you think any of these options will work well due to the 32MB constraint ?

PS: I just tried again with both same version 8.562 : one I downloaded here and another one at different forum. They both work on TTS for me now. However, the version here 8562.xl2900 has some more features like Auto-zooming, Google service compared to the standard . Do you know any tool /util to modify or re-cook the Navcore ? I really hate the Google logo !!! lolz

Thanks again

8.562 is not a good choice for your unit. SE 8.560 is better. The same VocalizerTTS folder that works in 8.010 will work in 8.560. Upgrade a navcore by copying it over the top of the current navcore, overwriting any common files.

1. If you can get LoquendoTTS to work, then you & lemoni will be in a league of your own.
2. Lane guidance (ALG) is a map feature, not a navcore feature. ASR allows you to speak address entries rather than type them.

Glad you got TTS working.

1) I haven't tried LoquendoTTS on the ONE. Vocalizer TTS is so crystal clear on the ONE. It even sounds clearer than the GO 730 which has LoquendoTTS, but that's most likely due to the superior speaker on the ONE.

2) If you use the IQ map (eg. 865.3245) then you get ALG and it works well. The map also supports ASR, but it can't be used on your device anyway because there is no microphone on the ONE.

3) No need to modify the navcore. Here is the 8.562 SE that I use for the ONE: [Please Register or Login to download file]

1. Open your unit and look for a setconfig.txt and/or a model.txt file. Change it/them to x50.

Thanks all,

1) Is there any tool to trim down the map size ( to US only or just even a single city) like Mapsource/Mapinstall for Garmin to fit into the device only ? ( will explain why unable to use microSD below) All the 700-800 MB maps do not have such good features like ASR, ALG, HN .

2) If you plan to buy a few more GPS devices , which ones you folks prefer? Garmin or TT ? Currently , we have 4 of them 2 Garmins and 2 TTs (have not look at the other TT model yet but must be newer than the old TT One XL 32MB Im asking here ) .

We have a small food biz here with a lot of delivery to customers, and wanna give GPS devices to delivery men , but do not want to use external SD because they may lose it .
IMHO (I just start to play with them for the last 2 days eheh), Garmin is a bit more simply, intuitive to use, update and I really like the Map reduction/ resize feature . TT on the other hand can save a lot bucks - just buy basic device and patch it with better Navcore + maps .

PS: Sorry, but i do not wanna make a new thread - probably in Map section? - about this concern ; a few good opions from knowlegeable people like you guys are good enough :) I just grabbed and looked at the other TT unit.. it is XXL 64MB using 8.5 Navcore with AGL+ IQ route enabled. Guess it is pretty good ? Which Navcore is best for it then?

1. No. What you see is what you get.
2. I would look for re-furb GO 720 or 730 units.
3. Keep the navcore. How up to date is the map? Edition 865 is current.

865.3259 maps do not have IQ & ALG. Unless your unit has a card slot, there is not any Europe map (North, South, East, West) with IQ & ALG, that will fit on your XL.

Cheers. Which Map should I get, then? My XL has a slot and a 4 Gb card. I just need to drive to South of Portugal and I Live in Coventry, UK so UK, France, Spain and Portugal maps with lane guidance and if possible IQ would be just fine. Please see what you can do to help us out.

With your card & 8.413 any of these 865.3245 maps will cover you. Europe, Europe West, Western & Central Europe & Western Europe. They all have IQ & ALG. My pick would be Western Europe 865.3245.
