Tomtom 550 Truck

Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:01 pm

Has anyone done this?

Is it quicker than a 520 running the truck maps.

The reason I ask, I find mine is slow, the 550 is showing as a different chip but same MHz speed, if it's faster I'd have 1, but if not, there's no point.

Thanks

Wayne

The 550 and 520 should be very smiler in speed both 400mHz and 64mb RAM, your 520 should not be slow it should run truck just fine my 720 runs it great, maybe you could do with looking into your setup, ie how many POI's loaded on the map and how many voices installed ect , maybe you can free up some ram this way.

Please keep in mind that on a X50 device no Navcore for other devices will work without problems.
There are a few solutions for the Truck Navcore to get it working on a X50 but it is not really worth it and most important not faster.
In my opinion the trusty X20 and X30 devices are still the best - except for the 630.

If you take a look here you can find a chart to compare all the models ;) http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2431-Tomtom-model-comparison-chart

Ta mate, specs wise (cpu + ram) looks same as my 520.. I'll probably just grab a 530 as a replacement - improved speaker, and keep mine as a spare.
