Some help please for a noob with a ONE XL to load florida ma

Mon Oct 14, 2013 10:39 am

Hi guys, ive recently borrowed my father in laws tomtom one xl and would like to add USA maps on there (just for florida)

My device is 8.010 (9369/080529)
at the moment it's loaded with english and irish maps - v715.1689

My question is how do I know which USA maps to load on to my xl one? There are so many!

Ive read various tutorials but still dont know the answer.

Also so far I have sourced various tools such as keygens etc, but not sure if were allowed to disuss those on here?

Any help or even a step by step guide would be great if anybody can point me in the right direction!

Thanks

Welcome to Navitotal.

1. There is not a Florida only map.
2. OK
3. Remove the 715.1689 map folder.
4. Maps are navcore specific, not device specific. There is a map/navcore compatibility chart, with instructions in post 1 or 2 of every Navitotal map thread.

For an 8.010 navcore use:

United_States_915_5106 [827MB ] OR
United_States_915_5106 with Automatic Installer & Patcher

Download & unzip either of these maps. Copy the unzipped 5106 map folder into the XL.
Download & unzip FastActivate Latest Update. Instruction for use are in the first post. Sometimes the Automatic Installer & Patcher version doesn't patch the map.
I suggest running FastActivate options 2 & 3 to patch the 5106 map & 8.010 navcore. Done!! Disconnect & reboot.

Cool, thanks mate. Ive just noticed though that my xl one is only a 500mb version, so I guess the above map is too big? If so am I better purchasing a 1 or 2gb SD card before I attempt this process? Or is there any 500mb usa maps out there that I could maybe source?

Ok, ive been trying for the last few hours to install new uk maps as a 'test' (until I get a 2gb SD card where I can install USA maps as my xl one has only got an internal memory of 500mb)
I have downloaded the UK 915 5106 auto installer and patcher. Ive deleted all contents from my tomtom. Ive ran the auto installer exe. When asked for the call.bat password i've typed in 'navitotal'............. It starts proceeding with the installation but then it gets right to the end and appears to have completed so I unplug tomtom, reboot and now it just has a big red X on the screen of tomtom. ANy ideas where im going wrong?

Get a 2MB card.

I thought I had solved it earlier. I placed the downloaded maps on to root of tomtom, then placed the fastactivator.exe on there also, ran the first four steps as shown in guide, I rebooted tomtom but still get the message saying 'no maps found'....
I sense im close guys, what am I doing wrong?
Do I put the maps whole folder on to the root of the tomtom or just the content of the map's folder?

Or when doing a clean install do I follow the below steps..

DELETE EVERYTHING FROM TOMTOM

COPY FASTACTIVATOR.EXE TO ROOT OF TOMTOM

COPY DOWNLOADED MAP MAP TO ROOT

COPY VOICES FOLDER TO ROOT

RUN FASTACTIVATOR

Is that it? Or am I missing something?

Please try to be a little bit more precise: you cannot copy fastactivator.exe to root of TT because there is no fastactivator.exe.
You are referring to FastActivate.exe.
Just a slight difference.

When you install the map onto your TT, you are placing it in a folder?
So if you are installing your USA map on your TT which is designated e.g. F:\, the map should be in something like f:\USA.
Not in F:\ and not in F:\USA\USA.

I rebooted tomtom but still get the message saying 'no maps found'. This is the classic message when the navcore is not patched.

1. Copied from post 2. Download & unzip either of these maps. Copy the unzipped 5106 map folder into the XL.
2.Not necessary. You didn't follow the instructions in post 2.
3. OK
4. OK
5. OK
6. FA will not work without a ttgo.bif file on the device. Also no mention of copying a navcore to the device.

Yes, im unzipping the map so all im left with is a folder titled 'United_States_915_5106' for example and im sticking that in to the root of my tomtom. So it's going in my i drive - i:/United_States_915_5106 so it's in the root. Is that correct?

So do I need to copy over a navcore to my device too? If so any idea of the exact one I'll need?

Yes.

The instructions in post 2 are based on you using your 8.010 navcore. A gps is just a specific use computer. Like any computer, NO navcore (operating system), NO workey.

Ive now tried to put back my backup which I made before I started al of this back on to at least check that works. Once I boot up and chose right handed, etc etc, it gets to voices, I select JANE and it just hangs and then reboots! :086:

HOOOORAH!
I managed to put back my backup that I made a few days ago and then simply copied the new uk maps 915 5106 on to root, then copied fastactivate on to it and ran that.. BOOM! Rebooted and now my tomtom shows uk 915.5106, which means it's worked right?

Yep, it means it worked, because, whether you realize it or not, you finally followed the instructions in post 2.

LOL, I read so many different tutorials mate I did not know what to look at!
Now when I get my 2gb SD card I take it that I repeat this process but install map and activator to my SD card?
