My son has requested a satnav for Xmas. I'm sure this question has been asked and answered but I can't find a thread.

What satnav would you recommend?

We are hesitant to make recommendations any more, since every new model rolled out in the last couple of years is "tamper proof".

Important note for new Tomtom models like VIA, Start20/25, Go1xxx - please read!
