Please help! What do I need to do to update my TomTom One X

Mon Jun 14, 2010 7:11 pm

Hi,

I had just began trying to learn what was needed for me to update my device (see signature) when GPS Underground was hacked. I did get as far as Ten Driver telling me that I could use a 2GB SD card to boot from entirely and use a 9.051xxx navcore, an 845.2645 map, and some ttsystem stuff or something. I don't know if I now have the latest stuff or not.

Can someone please confirm this for me, and tell my everything I need.

Thanks

Make a backup of your device before doing any changes to it...
look in my signature for a tutorial on how to do so....

Okay, I have backed up my device.

Also, please note....I corrected my device's configuration in my signature.

Okay...so now what?

Thanks.

ok you can get SE NAvCOre 9.0.51 + USA_and_Canada MAP version 845.XXXX

but do u have an SD card?

or your gonna use internal 1GB memory here?

Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:11 pm

I plan on using a 2 GB SD card.

Also, what else what I need to make it work. I saw something about a keygen, easytools, and a meta file. I'm going to keep looking through all of the tutorials to see if I can make some sense of it.

Thank you.

typical procedure is:

- Download & install SE NAVCORE
- Download & install MAP
- use KEYGEN4.1D to activate MAP

now im asking you about SD card because your device has only 1GB of internal memory...

so because of that, you can't use lets say MAP North-America 2GB 845.2645 which got IQroutes + ALG

Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:26 pm

I'm going to put it on a 2GB SD card. TenDriver said that it would automatically boot from the SD card and that I wouldn't have to touch the internal memory. Is this still correct?

Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:36 pm

oh yeah!

once a SD card is inserted, by default, your device will boot from it....

but dont worry, nothing can go wrong here...

and anyways, you made a backup so, your good to go!

Great!!!!

Also......when you say "Download & install", are you actually saying to unzip it onto the drive? Second, what is the difference between using the keygen and this: SE_ttsystem.9.051.503855? Do they both patch TT Home? Lastly, how do I copy my favorites, icons, vocies, and other setting to the new configuration?

Mon Jun 14, 2010 11:51 pm

download and install means unzip to device yes!

Keygen4.1D is for activating your MAP...

dont need to patch your NAvCOre here because an SE NAvCOre, such as 9.051, is already patched...

and yes KEYGEN4.1D can patch TTHOME but you dont need to... you dont need this to have a functional device at all...

patching TTHOME is only for those who want to use the OPERATE MY GO feature in TTHOME...

So to make usual GPS updates, no need to patch TTHOME at all... you can update no problem...

Okay, I did something wrong!

First let me confirm the Navcore because there are a couple. Which one is the correct one?

9.051.xxl2009.CAB-navcore-XXL.cab
9.051.xxl2009_tts.CAB-navcore-XXL.cab
9.051.xxl2010.CAB-navcore-XXLcab
SE_Navcore.9.051.503855.Basicpack.rar
SE_ttsystem.9.051.503855

Also, where do I copy the Keygen to so that I can use it. I've tried it on my laptop (SD card) and with the SD card in the device, and I keep getting the same error that says "Error. TomTom not connected to usb." It is connected, and I also ran the keygen as administrator. Please help!

The XL is very fuzzy with new Navcores - so you might have to try a different one if it is not working at all.
The Keygen need the TT connected but also the ttgo.bif file and the ttsystem PNDNavigator.
When you use the SE ttsystem you only need to activate the map with the keygen.
It is most likely that the structure on your SD card is not corrent.
You can choose whatever .CAB you like - they are basically the same.

Okay, it is formatted FAT 32. Shoud I re-format it to FAT 16? Also, I am still confused as to each individual step to make this work. Which do I install first, the map or navcore? Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere on here for newbies like me? I have never done this before.

Thanks.

Format to Fat32 is what you need....
So steps are as follow....

#1
Since you made a backup earlier, start with an empty device...
Delete everything thats on your device internal memory

#2
now that its 100% empty
download SE NavCore 9.051 Part#1 --> Here!
extract it onto your device

#3
download SE NavCore 9.051 Part#2 --> [Please Register or Login to download file]
extract it onto your device & overwrite all files if asked

#4
Since you got only 1GB of internal memory
download MAP USA_and_Canada_845_2666 (828.12 MB) --> Here!
and extract it onto your device

#5
disconnect your device from your PC & reboot it

#6
download KEYGEN 4.1D --> Here!
ignore your antivirus warnings... its a clean file....

#7
connect your device to your PC

#8
run KEYGEN 4.1D
Select MAKE MAP KEYS
then click on CREATE DCT
and ignore the truck map error message

#9
your done
