Patch TomTom HOME why

hi guys i am new to this but with a bit of reading on this site i have updated my maps and speed cams

but i have read a few times to Patch TomTom HOME but unable to find out why it needs to be done

The ONLY reason to patch TT Home is to use the "Operate my device" feature with a patched unit.

thanks mate i was puzzled do you know which is the newest map i download a 930 one as it was the hightest number map i could find

The first 3 digits of a map is the edition. The last 4 digits is a version of the edition. 930 is the current edition.

i think i get it so the map i have now is the latest but if i want lane guidance i need to get diffrent version

Correct...refer to the compatibility chart for map info

That depends on what 930 version you have now. Also does your unit have enuf memory, internal or external, for the map that you need. Finally, does the map, that you need, have a meta code posted with it, indicating that the map is patchable & usable!!

the map i got now is 930.5601 uk i think i need 930.5604 uk as i am using navcore 8842 im using a 4gb sd card i cant find 930.5604 uk with a meta code

You could always update to V9 navcore and use 930.5563

i wasnt sure it was save to put navcore 9 on it

I got V9 on my Go 300 and my XL

im not sure what model mine is as it ine car

do you find it hard to download maps all i get is diffent pages opening downloads never start

Can't give a complete accurate answer without knowing what thread you are downloading from!!

I get a lot of pop ups but I just kill them. Very annoying though
