Navcore Version 9.400

Postby Downunder35m » Thu Mar 08, 2012 9:30 am

That is the normal view I'm afraid.
Since the turning info is more important than the time TT makes it bigger.
Have you tried different settings for the status bar, like removing what you don't want?
You have to keep in mind mind that your display is much smaller so some things can't be "converted" the same way from a bigger device.

By the way:
You can create better scrrenshots by using the TT.
Make a new folder "screen".
In there ceate a new textfile named "capture".
If saved with an extension simply delete the extentsion so that the filename is only capture
Content does not matter.

Here you can see the look on a big screen.

the left side, font is smaller and squashed,
1. 2D/3D is just a waste of space.

1. As previously stated, The 2D/3D view on the status bar becomes the turn info display when running a route. This is clearly seen in the bottom half of your screen shot.
2. Since you are quite unhappy with this navcore, may I suggest you go back to your previous version.

Yesterday I drove a round trip of 200 miles using my TomTom 720 with UK map 885 and navcore 9401. Alongside it I used another 720 with map Western Europe 875 and navcore 9205.
As a result of my experiment I have decided to remove the newer 885 map with the 9401 navcore and revert back to the older map as mentioned above.
I found on one occasion the later setup map was indicating to take a 3rd exit but 'Kate' was telling me to take the first exit ( confirmed by my passenger). Over the last week or so I have found discrepancies in the 885/9401 setup regarding final destinations which have been out by as much as a mile and on the opposite side of a dual carriageway. I am not overly impressed with the icon layout but I did like the large red speed limit indicator and an over speed sound warning which I cant seem to find anywhere to duplicate it to my older set up. I noted on 3 or 4 occasions the newer map had an incorrect speed limit displayed and in addition to an already earlier posting on the subject of an inability to download start up and shutdown sounds, all of the camera warnings that you seem to spend forever setting up (on all versions) had all reverted to a single 'gong' sound which was the final straw for me !.
I am appreciative of all the time spent on the update by all members and, more importantly, the moderators like Tendriver and Downunder35 and I don’t intend any of the above to be a criticism. I think though that perhaps both the map needs some updating and probably the navcore isn’t suitable for my 720, but I tried it !.

Have you set the same emulation in both 720s?
1. May I suggest you do more testing before you return to your old setup. Run 885 with 9.205 & 875 with 9.401.
2. There have been several comments about the wrong destination location. The Kate issue is a new one.
3. The speed limit warnings have been in Change preferences, Safety preferences forever.
4. Thanx for the compliment. Thanx for the feedback.

FWIW, I have a 885 map & 9.401 on a 720 & have not experienced any of the issues that you are having.

Hi Tendriver,
I probably hadnt as I dont understand what that means.......BUT its too late now. Decision made and I have wiped the 9401/885, I was finding just the couple or so quirky things that I wasnt overly happy about. I might get bored in a few weeks time and download them again.
Another strange thing occurred while trying to restore the original backup of the old system from Explorer, somehow the restored and old ttgo.bif file kept on showing a navcore version of 9400 instead of 9205. The device would boot into the splash screen with drum beat and go blank requiring a hard reset. I 'faffed' around with that for about 4 hours untill eventually I used your Clear-Flash tool and did a clean install of navcore and map which solved the problem. I dont know where it was picking up the .bif file from but it certainly caused me an headache for a while.

Yes I have only ever heard it that once and I didnt believe my ears. I asked my passenger and he confirmed what I had heard.

Yes I have allways selected that but when you initially select it you are invited to choose an accompanying sound and I cant seem to find the sound...it must be available somewhere but I hadnt got it on my system anywhere.

I do believe you mentioned in another posting somewhere on the forum that you were using the 9401 /885 map on a 720 which is what persuaded me to try it. I wonder if I would have had fewer inconsistancies if I had of used the flash tool before I initially loaded up navcore 9401 and 885 map ??. I might try that the next time.

1. There is no such thing as an old ttgo.bif. A new one is created each & every time the unit is booted, unless you are using a ttgo.bak file.

2. Look in the post above your last & you will see it again.
