Maps are too big !!

Thu Jun 23, 2011 9:05 am

My friend has Tomtom XXL IQ Routes and wants to update maps.(Western and central Europe)
The problem is that he has only 1.84 GB free space in internal memory.I could not find any new 870 map that can fit in.
Is there any way that I can delete UK & Ireland (he doesn't need them), or is there any map available that is smaller than 1.84 GB ??

Thanks in advance

Just make a back up of you system on your pc first before you try doing anything....Then check your navcore version (tap bottom right of screen) Make a note of this ..Then tap on the version ..this will give you your device id and what map and version you have installed...for example united kingdom and republic of ireland 870_3460 ...
Look for the map that you want with the same serial ie europe 870_3460 ....That will be the map suitable for your device....Then look up the tutorials...
Ps:- once you have the western and central europe maps the uk is included..

Some of the maps have gotten so large, that they will not fit on 2GBs. TomTom has created Zone Maps as a fix to this issue.

Read more here: [Please Register or Login to download file]

All of the zone maps are here: All New Maps 870.XXXX

Thanks a lot for your answers !!!!!
I manage to install Central_and_Eastern_Europe_870_3417 and Western_Europe_1GB_870_3417, so he can choose which map he wants .
@tendriver
I can not find "Change map zone" from your link, and I tried 5 different maps, but it doesn't matter any more.
Thanks again for your help !!!
