Help updating Tomtom One third ed.

Postby ministry » Sat Jul 02, 2011 4:25 pm

Hi I am new to this so please pardon my ignorance. I have been trying to update my Tomtom One 3rd Ed. to latest map but to no avail. My version is 8.010.

I have tried Australia_865_3245 (the blue link) from this page and after running it I still see the version is 8.010. In my Tomtom drive I see two folders Australia and Australia_865.3245 on root drive. I see another folder with same name in subfolder of Australia_865.3245. I don't know if that should be "Australia" (overwriting the other Australia folder).

I also tried AutoActivate 28.03.2011 {1.8.6.6} from same page. I copied it in root directory of tomtom drive and it does its work but after going back to version its still the same number. I dont know what I am doing wrong. There is no detailed instruction on what to do step by step. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Its a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance.

No, it's not deleted.

1. 8.010 is your navcore (operating system) version, not your map version. 865.3245 maps are not compatible with your 8.010 navcore. They require navcore 8.2xx or higher. 865 edition maps are out of date. 870 is the current edition. The 875 edition will be out in about 2 weeks.

I suggest you wait for the 875 maps

Thanks guys for the replies. I had seen this [Please Register or Login to download file] but wasn't sure if X means incompatible as there is no such instruction what to look for in the chart. My guess is 865.3246 is compatible but rather out of date map so the way I am updating is correct but why it didn't warn me that its not compatible so now I think there are junk files that has to go but I don't know which folder and files are created by FastActivate and Australia_865_3245 patcher. There are two folders for Australia now each taking more than 100 MB space. I think Australia_865.3245 folder has to go before I update it to latest version.

Sorry my bad I thought the navcore must have different version number after the map update. Didn't know the number is for navcore. So where do you find the map version in GPS?

Open your map folder, then open the .pna file with notepad

ID=United_States_2GB.pna 914163122865 Last 3 digits = Edition
build=3245 This is the version.
id=623269

Still no luck. I have downloaded "Australia_870_3391 with Automatic Installer & Patcher" the orange link but after starting it up it still shows the old map. When I go to manage map, I see two "Australia". I assume the bottom one is the new map but it freezes after I select it. After resetting and turning it on, it freezes on splash screen. I have to connect it computer and delete or rename the new Australia folder. Is there something else I have to do. Do I need FastActivate or AutoActivate? I have done them as well but no luck. Please help.

look your map folder if here is Australia-335.meta & Australia-335.meta.dct delete both these files

Australia-336.meta & Australia-336.meta.dct must be only in map directory
if Australia-336.meta.dct file not exist use autoactivate

new map - upgrade trouble

Postby Worldtourist » Fri Jul 22, 2011 4:26 pm

downloaded the new map , installer + patch included to make it as easy as possible 4 me, but it doesnt work after that, cannot use the map when i disconnect from PC/TomtomHOME. When it's connected I can use the map with TTHome, very strange.

installation procedure looks fine no problems.

Do I need to patch something else to make it work ?

EDIT: well search and found, guess one need to do that ...patched Homedirectory, probably that made it possible to use the new map with TomtomHOME, think the navcore needed to be patched on the device too so I DL'ed it copied the files and now all works. Hope the next new map works without this much problem. ... U learn as long as U live

Now you know that to use a patched map, you must also patch the navcore. Also TT Home must be patched, if you wish to use "Operate my device". As long as you do not change the navcore, you will only have to patch the map next time.

Thanks PiEtU

After removing Australia-335.meta & Australia-335.meta.dct and did as you instructed it works like a charm. Sorry for late reply. Just had the chance to fix it.
