Do i have to downgrade navcore?

Postby MICK4774 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 9:25 am

Hi all,
I was looking for a tomtom with truck maps I am getting the latest truck maps now but from what I have read these will only work with navcore 8.395.
I am looking on ebay for a 520 or 530 go buit a few say they are already on 9.xxx navcores.
Will I have to downgrade these and is that even possible.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am quite new to this and didnt want to mess it up

Get a 520/530 or 720/730 and install the latest 8.398 Truck Navcore together with the 865 Truck map.
These devices are fully compatible.

1. WORK models like the GO 7000 come with a Truck Navcore & Truck map. They can be added to other models.
2. Don't worry, as Downunder pointed out, the navcore & map can be easily changed. With a device like a GO 520/530 or 720/730 with a card slot, you can have 2 seperate setups.
3. See #2

Many thanks you have answered my questions just one more if not to much trouble .
I have also read that the 520 doesnt have advance lane guidance and the 530 does is this something that updating the navcore will fix.
IE 520 with navcore 8.398 and truck map europe 865.3255 will have the lane guidance as this is the cheaper option. Or do i need to pay the extra for a 530 for lane guidance

ALG is a map feature, not a device or navcore feature.
Yes, Truck 865.3255 is a full feature map, so a 520 with navcore 8.398 and truck map europe 865.3255 will have ALG.
