Go710 Home App issue

Fri May 13, 2011 8:49 am

Hi people,

My original set up on my go710 was
Nav 7.903
boot 4.8600
Map WE 650.1047

I decided to update my nav to 9.058 and map WE 865.3246, i didn't change the bootloader. when i look in the status on the TT it says i have all my changes. but when i look at it through Home it shows my old set up, i also get a App error when opening Home. I think i may need to change the bif file in the root drive????
also i want to update boot loader so i can have bigger maps as i travel all over Europe including the uk. It would be nice to have the biggest Europe map with all the trimmings, IQ etc.... i think thats map 865.3245

any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance
Gaz

1. Disregard what Home shows.

2. Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183
"Save as" ttgo.bak
Disconnect & reboot.

3. Install the 9.058 bootloader, that you should have installed when you loaded 9.058.

Thanks for getting back to me, :)

i decided to start again as i think my 9.058 was different to the software on this forum.

so...
i copied my back up onto a 2GB SD card and overwrote any files installing the 9.058
I then reinstalled my maps overwritting the back up copy. the patched them
i also flashed the the TT 3 times.

When i turn the TT on it hangs on the TomTom screen for a bit then i get a white screen with the loading bar, it turns yellow, switches of and on again then just sits on the TomTom screen again untill i do a soft rest.

any help would be greatfull

When i put my old SD card in with a copy of my back up, the TT boots up like it always had. only difference now is it shows the new bootlader which is 5.5259

Also... i have just soft reset and then booted into Home. i get no error message now and it cant find any updates for me. if i go to operate my Go, it says it can find any maps!! in manage my Go old app shows up but new map is installed.

hope you can help from stopping me from banging my head against a wall lol

NEVER install maps by overwriting the old map. ALWAYS install the complete new map folder into the root. REMOVE the old map folder, if no longer needed or need the room for the new map.

When we give help, it's structured, so we known what the member is doing. If it doesn't work, we go to the next step. When a member tinkers on his own, as in post 3, it messes up the process.

fair comment, i think the biggest problem is i didn't know you guys where here and i was using a different forum to help me out, which has shut down from the net.

I originally wanted to see if i was able to update my TT using a spear SD card i had kicking about.

I managed to get it updated to Navcore 9.058 with map EW 865.4346 but the boot loader didn't update. The TT would work fine but Home wouldn't recognise it, thats when i found this forum.

After a few post with you, i decided to reformat the SD card and start again using the softwear on this forum.
so...

i downloaded a navcore installed it, and a map and patched it, all from this site

Now i cant boot up my TT unless i have my old SD card in it. This is all a learning curve for me, as in the end i want to get a bigger SD card so i can have a bigger map of europe as i am driving across it in a few months.

please feel free to ask me any questions, or get me to start all over again.

What information would you like from me now? or what action do you want me to take,

thanks again

1. If you still have a copy of this working combo, put it on your card & we will go from there.
2. You can use a bigger card, since your bootloader is now 5.5259.

Again thanks for helping me out!!

So...

I started again like you said, i now have a working combo of :-

navcore 9.058
bootloader 5.5
Map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v865.3245

I now get the same error message when i log into Home, so i changed the .Bif file and saved it as a .bak file, following your instructions in this thread hoping it would solve the issue. which it hasn't, so...

1/ i get an error message when i login into Home with the TT connected.

2/ Home crashes if i try to operate my Go through my pc

Home does pick up all my new software on my unit, which it didn't before and is very happy to update my TT when i connect it.

3/ what is the biggest Sd card my unit can take?

have read 4gb max, have also read someone is using a 16gb SDHC card.

Mon May 16, 2011 9:58 am

3) 16Gb or even 32Gb SDHC's are fine

thanks, i have a spear 16gb cdhc card i could use, it has a typescript back up file file on it. would having this file on the card effect the TT in anyway do you know?

just looked and its only a class 4, with 16gb would this be to slow, or make the unit slow when reading of the card?

Everyone says class 6 minimum but they ain't even been around that long. Class 4 will work fine but I do suggest your cut/paste any non-TT stuff off that card somewhere else first
