TT GO630 installing Europe 970.7466 help

Postby PnkUnCorn » Wed Jul 20, 2016 5:18 am

Hi guys,

Could you please help me with guiding through the steps and pin pointing at what I'm doing wrong. Have spend a few night already on downloading and trying to connect the dots, but no success. Have read a lot of treads and discussion on this forum.

I have a GO 630 with `CurrentMap=North_America_2GB` on the internal memory which I haven't used in a while so decided to give it to my dad in Europe. Tried to install the all Europe 970.7466 on a 4 GB memory card and Europe_South on a 2BG memory card as those were the latest versions shown available in TT Home, but without removing the US map from internal memory. For the all Europe I used the auto installer, for the Europe_South I used the manual installation, but both with the same outcome: I can see the .dct map folder and it appears in the list of maps when I turn on the TT, but when I try to switch to the Europe map I get the error message: "Error with map. You cannot use this map on this device".

Please help as I am going to visit my parents in Europe in two weeks and was planning to hand them the TT (I'm currently in US, if that makes a difference).

Thanks in advance!

Here's the info from the ttgo.bif. Please let me know if any aditional info is needed.

Update via Home your Device to the latest Navcore (9.510)
Place on the SD card

1) Biffile (ttgo.bif) copy it from internal to SD card.
2) The map(s).
3) activation using Fast Activate.
(found: tomtom-tools-f127/fastactivate-latest-update-jan-2016-now-includes-version-updater-tool-t9359.html
Unpacking on Desktop.
4) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device Twice Internal AND SD-Card in the root.
5) Run "FastActivate.exe" on SD Card.
Select 2.
If you have the latest navcore installed via Home you have to patched it.
Run "FastActivate.exe" Internal.
And choose 3
(Be sure you have Internet connection).
6) Done

Thanks @holyhead!

In my original steps I did execute steps 1 through 5 except I did not copy and run the "FastActivate.exe" internally. That's probably what I was missing. Will try that tomorrow.

I have a few more questions:
1.I did update the TT through Home, but which line in the biffile shows the current version of the navcore? Can't see anything close to that name or version number.
2. Running "FastActivate.exe" internally and choosing option 3 - will this patch the navcore?

1.Your biffile said that you have navcore 8.351
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8351
The latest navcore for the 630 is the 9.510 ( I have a 630 to)
2.This wil patch the navcore (You got the message "OK System gepatcht").

With navcore 8.351 you can not use the map 970.7466 (You need 9.510) see scheme
maps-v9xx-f179/970-map-collections-only-t18704.html
I don,t know why Home not offer you the navcore 9.510
You can try Home again because most times you got the update in stages till the last one.
If you don,t get it then the follewing

You can install the 9.510 and don,t have to patched it (Is already patched)

Alway,s make a backup before you begin.

Do yourself a favor. Get a 8GB SDHC card & put the Europe maps on it.

Place on the SD card
1) Biffile (ttgo.bif) copy it from internal to SD card.

Run "FastActivate.exe" Internal.
And choose 3
(Be sure you have Internet connection.
(6) Done

The following is based on the card being in the 630 card slot.
1. Only necessary, if using a card reader instead of the SD card slot.
2. OK.
3. Same answer as point 1.
4. TWICE is not necessary. With the SD card in it's slot, just one copy in the internal is fine.
5. Run F/A options 2 & 3 to patch maps & navcore
6. Disconnect & reboot. Done.

My 630 has navcore 9510 internal with Benelux_970_7466

SD Card in the 630 SD slot with France_970_7467

FastAktivate.exe in root Internal

Run Fastaktivate and navcore Internal patched
Map Benelux aktivated

Everything works

Then I tried to aktivate the map France on the SD Card.
Could not aktivate.

So I copied F/A also to SD Card
and also the bif file and now I was possible to aktivated the
map France on the SD Card.

So I suppose I did something wrong but don,t know what.
I follewed exactly the instruction.

Done

Thank you holyhead!

That was it! I missed to copy/run the FA in the internal memory which I guess never patched the navcore. Now everything works fine and I am able to switch between maps.
I was also following instruction, but not sure I paid attention to the part where instructed that you need to run FA on BOTH internal and card memory.

You guys are awesome! :023:

FastActivate update
Instructions:
1. Plug your tomtom device with the USB to your PC or use card reader
2. Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your TomTom device internal OR SD-Card ROOT directory (recommended) OR desktop OR any other place.
Copying FastActivate.exe Twice Internal AND SD-Card in the root directory is not necessary!!!!

Thanks for replying!
I was actually doing that, following instructions, multiple times, but it did not work for me. Maybe it's device specific, not sure. Running FA on the root of SD card inside TT and choosing options 2 and 3 did not patch the navcore.
Running FA on both device root and SD card root did the trick.
