Getting back from 9.051.503855 to 9.026.483454

Sun May 23, 2010 6:33 pm

[SIZE="3"]I updated to 9.051 because I understood that RDS/TMC reception would improve - it didn't. So, as I prefer the menu structure of 9.026, 'Operate my GO' worked (as did everything else) I have been trying to get back to that version.

What I have:
TT GO 910, App 9.026.483454.1, OS 473972, 64MB RAM (free: 4.4MB, GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5259Map: Western_Central_Europe_845_2645

I got to this stage by deleting the root files and downloading Navcore.9.026.gi.CAB-navcore-GO.cab from the TomTom website (link courtesu of TTuser) and unpacking all to the GO. Then downloaded SE_ttsystem.9.026.48345.rar and unpacked the ttsystem file to the GO, overwriting the one from the download from the TomTom website.
Now, after conecting to TTHome (for Mapshare, QuickGPSfix) and 'Disconnect my GO' and 'Soft reboot'? I get blank place-markers for the +/- zoom (top left/right), 'Quick Menu' and up-arrow (to the left of current time om the Status bar. No respponse when tapping the screen, until, after a few minutes, the TT reboots. Then all OK.
'Operate my GO' no longer works; it does download a 'needed file' then believes that a map of South Africa is current and defaults to Dutch or German. The file it downloads is [email protected] and, I've noticed, I have a 'LIVE MyyTomTom account' option in 'Change Preferences'. Maybe, originally, I downloaded the 'Live' version of 9.051.
What I plan to do is reformat the GO disc and re-install the 9.026 files. So, the question is how to do the reformat without turning th G|O into a paperweight? I have made a full backup using Windows Explorer.

Connect your 910 to your computer and open windows explorer.
Rightclick at the station where your 910 is connected and choose Format (FAT32 - no quick format)

That's it.

Yes as shaman said format by right clicking on the drive and format, quick format is fine this is what i have always done and it has never caused me problems.

Then you want to download 1 of the 9.026 .cab files and the SE 9.026 ttsystem and install them to your drive , then copy your map folder back to it also ;)

Thanks guys, It worked. I've copied mp3d from my backup \bin folder to the new \bin. I've also copied rdstmcserver from the old \bin to the new one but haven't tested this yet.
Also, as I use a computer voice (LoquendoTTS) do I need the 'voices' folder? I'll do some 'road testing' before risking 'Operate my GO' and report back.

The prompt, along the lines of "Do you want to connect to your computer" does not appear when putting the GO in the PC cradle. It did the first time I loaded 9.026.... about 3 weeks ago. It's not important, just would be nice to have it back.

Worked after I'd copied fm2010parameters and fmsignal from backup to TT.

Do a reset to restore "Connect to my Computer". It's not important, if you never want to update you 910 again.

I'd tried this: NBG. But, as eskro says, TTHome (incl today's version) detects the GO so I can update.

Thanks for your help.

Great. Thanx for the update. Do me a favor. With your 910 detected by TT Home, click the blue "Disconnect Device" button in the lower right corner of Home, but leave your 910 in it's PC cradle & see what it does.
