I formatted the unit only and then copied the back up that i had done many moons ago back to the unit.
I now have full postcode back on both standard 520 and truck map.
I had recently updatde the 520 (after removing the sd card) via tomtom home ,so it seems that may have caused the problem. now the 520 is back to earlier stage all is fine.
Thanks to tendriver :clapping_mini: for his help and for his advice to back up (made on another forum ages ago) any stuff before you alter it,
i think this issue is now solved for me:)

WTG!! You are Welcome. Thanx for the kind comment. Please define standard 520 at earlier stage.

I would really like to see you update it to a 9.xxx navcore & 860 map. Since you have the backup, you can't go wrong. I guarantee it.

No, you have the truck navcore & map on a card, correct?. I'm talking about your 520 internal.

which 860 map?

Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:58 am

860-3122 thats the only 860 i have at the moment
going for this one now United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_860_3128

have put the map 860.3126 and navcore 9.205 onto the unit, it boots up the tells me there's no voices then goes to screen with map of my current location,at the bottom of screen in blue bar is time/speed/2d and 3d option....no route planned
press no route planned and i can get onto the battery sign and satellites and also the version etc
if i tap the screen to get into menus it goes off and reboots
tried connecting to tt home it tell me its i have an invalid version but will let me add voices etc but when i try to "operate my go" it say s "you cannot use this map"
have used activator on it as well

the map i have now is UK and Ireland v815-2003 but have had to keep navcore 8.351.
cant seem to get anything else to work proper.
