well, I guess I had to click on the 'TT HOME' button in the FastActivate interface ? I did it but I got a message like a DLL file was missing, but I work on Mac, and I don't have dll files...
So that's probably why HOME doesn't see my map when I choose the "operate my Device" option :(

I tried to open the files with a text reader, but I get really weird characters...

Please check the tutorial section, the reboot problem is explained ther in detail and how to fix your favourites too ;)
If you want to patch Home for some reason, than you first need the files to patch on your PC.
So you have to use the simulation first before you can patch the files.
To get all this working correctly you'll need a ttgo.bak file as well. This is a copy of your ttgo.bif file, but contains the values of the orignal Navcore instead of the values of the Navcore that is actually in use.

Hi

Thank you for your welcome. :o)

I found these forums after trying out the TomTom Utilities known as Fast Activate, so I registered to get help.

I've tried FastActivate and AutoActivate many times over the last couple of nights and, although the utility tells me "OK" to each option (maps, cams etc) and I'm assuming that my maps version was activated, but when I turn it on after restart, I get "you cannot use this map on your device". As stated, I've tried many times but get the same result.

I have a TomTom ONE 3rd Edition and I erased the complete content from it and then connected to TT Home and downloaded the latest APP, quickfix, cams etc. I then downloaded the "All Maps Activate" file and chose UK & ROI copied it to my device and connected to the computer and copied but I've still not managed to get it activated.

Can you help please?

Regards, bheart

This message is the classic one for a map that didn't get patched. Look for a .meta & a .meta.dct file in the map folder. No .meta.dct = map not patched.

Hi tendriver

Thank you for your latest response.

I've just checked the mapfolder for those two files and, they DO exist in there and I'm now puzzled as to what needs to be done next>

1 - United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-388.meta
2 - United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-388.meta

Although the second file is the same as the first file in name, the properties of the file type describe it as a.dct file.

Hi tendriver

Thanks again for your help.

When you say 'rerun the map patcher', you obviously mean rerun the 'fast activate utility'?

If so, then I've rerun it many times with the same result and error message from my device - it should not be that difficult?

With regard to the map(s) we are trying to activate, does the map have to match the original map that came with the device or, can you install any map (space allowing) to the device from any country and then successfully activate it?

I have reread your posts, and as PiEtU alluded to, I don't see any mention of you patching your 8010 navcore.

Hi tendriver

Perhaps you can clear up a few doubts for me?

Although I have all three version of fast activate, I'm using 'fast activate premium' and, starting from left to right, I use the first three tabs and correct me if I'm wrong, but tab three is the one that patches the navcore?

With reference to the last tab, "tomtom home", I have also used this tab but not sure if I need to?

Ok, with regard to the sofware content on my ONE 3rd Edition, I'm not sure if I mentioned it in my initial post, but I accidentally erased the content from my device and had no 'back up', so that's I was looking on the web for a way to get it back on the device.

I downloaded a torrent called "TomTom_Map_Collection_Sep_2011_Please_Seed" and this has many maps inside and also the fast activate utility.

I chose UK & ROI v875.3615 and this is the order that I install the software back to the device:

Connect to TomTom Home (but never login) and then download all available updates including the APP version the, after rebooting the device a couple of times, I copy the map folder to the device and the use 'fast activate premium'. Sometimes it worked and some times it did not but, at the moment I have the .dct and .meta files in the map folder.

The map appears to work ok but it did not have the UK post codes in there, so I copied the folder from another tomtom satnav I have and it works ok. I don't think that I the 'safety cameras' for the UK, on the device, is there a way to get them?

At the moment, the only two issues I can see is when I choose the 'operate my one' tab, when the satnav appears on TomTom Home, I get the message, "you cannot use this map on this device".

The other issue is with my chosen 'voice'; when I test the voice on the device, it for example, it says - you have 500 metres to your destination. I don't understand why the voice gives the distance in 'metric' because I have chosen 'imperial' in the options.

Ok that's it for the moment but, so that you can see the information full about my device, I have included the 'system information' below.

    1. Correct
    2. Only if you use "Operate my device".
    3. No problem.
    4. All maps are available from All New Maps 875.XXXX
    5. For Quality Control reasons, Navitotal does not support maps from other sources.
    6. We never use TT Home for apps or maps!!
    7. TomTom Official Speedcams 07.10.11
    8. Log in & let TT Home download a small update required to run "operate my device". Then run fastactivate TomTom Home button.
    9. i need to research this.
