Europe Truck map question?

Europe Truck map question?

Postby fizzer102 » Wed Dec 05, 2018 5:20 pm

Hi,

If you only ever want to use the UK area of the truck map do you still need to have and install the whole map or can it be edited ?

Despite a lot of reading I can't seem to find any reference to this so I'm guessing that you do need the whole map ?

Cheers.

Hi,
after a bit more reading I believe it's possible to put the truck map on a TT one v2 (SD card)

Just wondering which is the preferred NC to use with the unit only having 32mb of RAM?

Cheers.

You need either 9.701 or 9.702 (very little difference) to run the truck map viewforum.php?f=124

Also you'll need to up your bootloader to read the SDHC card you'll need (ideally 8GB)

First check your bootloader
Checking bootloader (the only reliable method)
Enter a device reset 15 sec.
Then turn on the device and hold the start button until you
get info screen. Which bootloader is there.

Update (if your current bootloader version is lower)
This first to version 5.5022 .
!! BE SURE THAT THE BATTERY IS FOR MORE THEN 50% CHARCHED !!
Or use external current.
[Please Register or Login to download file]
Put the bootloader on a SD card 2GB or less. Read the txt file wich included in the
bootloader.
If your current boot loader, is version 1.xxxx stop first !! and report it here on the forum.
---
1) Take empty SD card from at least 8GB SDHC class 4 or higher.
2) Format the SD card Fat32 once slowly. If it's a new card then you can skip this.
3) Use Navcore NC_Truck_9.701_DSA_for 32Mb (with SD) device
[Please Register or Login to download file]
and place the files and folders on the SD card.
Insert SD Card in the device.
4) Reset the device (at least 15 sec) and then run it till the notice "No map found"
5) Use map Europe_TRUCK_1020_9254
[Please Register or Login to download file]
Unpack it and
Copy the new map to your SD card in its own folder.
When you open the map you see the individual files.
Not a map in a map.
Delete the Cspeech files
6) Copy "FastActivate.exe" to your SD Card root.
viewtopic.php?f=127&t=19452
Run "FastActivate.exe".
Select 2
Done
7) SD card in the device. Reset the device (at least 15 sec)
Start the One.

WE LIKE TO HEAR THE RESULTS GOOD OR BAD

Nowadays you will generally need an 8GB card (hardly any price difference) as the map folder itself runs to 3.77GB (without any speedcams) etc (plus of course you'll have the navcore on it too) You may just about squeeze the entire thing onto a 4GB card if you remove all the cspeech files which your device doesn't use as it has no mic anyway and stick with just one standard voice.

Hi,
Wow, thanks for the excellent detailed advice lads :023:

I'll have to get a new battery for this TT one as it won't work at all without external power, it's definitely the battery as I tried the battery from my TT one and it worked fine.

So once I have a battery and I find an SD card (I'm sure there's one lying around here somewhere) I'll give it a go and report back with the outcome.

Cheers.

Hi,
I decided to try the truck map on my own TT one as I'm not sure how long the battery will take to get here for the other TT.

My bootloader is 5.5279 so good to go.

I found an 8GB SD card and loaded Navcore NC_Truck_9.701_DSA_for 32Mb (with SD) device along with Europe_TRUCK_1020_9254 map.

Ran the activator....done.

The map seems to work fine, however there is no "Edit Vehicle Profile" tile in the menus.

When the system was first booted after the install the Edit Vehicle Profile screen came up which allowed you to choose your vehicle (Car, Van, truck, etc) but after that initial boot you never see the screen again unless you restore factory settings, I've read posts on the forum of other people reporting the same problem....not sure if there's a solution?

So I decided to give truck NC 9.702 a go with the TRUCK_1020_9254 map.

9.702 does have the "Edit vehicle profile" tile in the menus but the layout of that version is strange, for example, on the route summary page that comes up after you plan a route there is no "Clear Route" option there is "Find Alternative" instead. To clear the route you have to scroll through the menu to find the "Clear Route" tile like you had to on the early navcores.

If only 9.701 had the Edit Vehicle Profile.

Cheers.

A couple of workarounds for this (remembering these truck navcores were not designed for the "lesser" devices):-

Problem 1: When entering Vehicle height you can't add the . "dot" or ' foot mark eg.
if you want to add 14' 9" high, you can only enter 14' or 15' not between size.

Solution: if you set height at 14' then tap done...
it then goes to vehicle width, tap back...it goes back to vehicle height...
tap the screen anywhere but not on the keypad (this will remove the white box around the 14')
now enter 9 and then done, this will give you vehicle height of 14'9"
the same process can be done with vehicle length/height/width

Problem 2: After initial boot up after a hard reset or inserting your truck card when you CAN set your vehicle dimensions, this screen/option is not available again.

Solution(s):
1. Change preferences > Planning preferences > Edit vehicle profile from there
or
2. Set a new destination and when it's all set up the last screen will tell you your vehicle profile where you can change it

Also note, if you select "car/taxi/van/other" profile you lose the option to change vehicle profile again unless you remove SD card/reboot/re-insert etc or do a factory reset THEN you have the option back.

Thanks for the workarounds, I managed to read them on one of your older posts. :023:

I found a video on youtube of the truck maps on a TT one with NC 9.702 1512362.1 and in the menu you can see that it has the "Edit vehicle profile" tile in the menu.

[Please Register or Login to download file]

See the video @ time 1:18 for the "Edit vehicle profile" tile in the menu.... You can see the version number @ time 11:20

I'll see if I can find a working link to NC 9.702 1512362.1 to try, it may give the "Edit vehicle profile"

Cheers.

:023:

I'm happy to say it works a treat on my TT one also. :041:

The "Edit vehicle profile" tile is now available so you can change vehicle type.

Thank you all for your excellent help with this.
