That is very strange. I just loaded a stock version of 8.351 on my 720. Replaced the ttsystem file with the SE version, no problems.

Yes but there are sometimes like this time for example where using an SE version will cause startup problems if the navcore is the officiall for the device, this is not the first case i have seen this That is why i patch a ttsystem for the user in cases like this instead of saying use an SE.

I do agree with you i always use an SE version also as i never use the officiall navcore but if i did i would patch it with 1 of the tools.
