Downloading A MAP for a newby

Mon Feb 07, 2011 1:41 pm

Hi all
I have just found this site.
I’m a newby and a numpty.
I’m looking for a map of South Africa that I can download and run on my Navi-Go 4.3 inch wide screen sat nav.
In the past, with a great deal of help from another site (That site is now sadly closed down) I managed to "hack" this Navi-Go 4.3 inch wide screen, to run on a TomTom map called..... United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v850.2820.

Looking at this site it seems to have a similar profile to the one that was recently closed down.
What do I need to do to be able to download a map:chok_mini:

I followed the link you so kindly gave me to the File Factory.
When I got to the download page for the map.....7236017N.rar.
There are three choices as below
(1)TEXT LINK
[Please Register or Login to download file]

(2)FORUM (BBCODE)
Download 7236017N.rar from FileFactory.com

(3)WEBSITE (HMTL)
Download 7236017N.rar from FileFactory.com.

can you please tell me what I need to do next, to download this Map onto my PC, so that I can copy it onto an SD card that I can place in my Navigo.
I have read the explanations you give in the "Screenshots and some explanations".
I can not see anything in the explanations.
I am a complete numpty

I didn't give you File Factory links. They are MegaUpload links.

My mistake sorry.
I did say I’m a newby and a numpty.
I clicked on the (860 maps with installer and Fast Activate) bit in your post, that link took me to the post by Downunder35m on 29 November 2010. I got a little confused at that point.
I will try again tomorrow, when I have more time.

Is the MegaUpload site user friendly for a newby like me ?

Keep in mind that I gave you a link to the thread, as well as links to 2 specific maps for you to pick from. What confused you? I need to see if I can make an improvement, so the next member won't have a problem.

MegaUpload is very friendly.

I received two replies to my question, one from you "tendriver", and one from "PiEtu".
Your reply gave a link to the thread, and a link to the MegaUpload site, with the choice of two maps.
PiEtu`s reply gave me a link to The File Factory.
That is where my confusion arose, I got confused by the two different sites.

In your opition "tendriver" which of the two sites above would be the easier for me, a complete numpty to use ?

You recommend MegaUpload, is MegaUpload a free site ?
Can you tell me if The File Factory a free site.

What gives MegaUpload your nod over File Factory

1. There is no member cost for anything on Navitotal.

2. Read your question about the 2 in post 9!!

When I click on the link you posted, it takes me to the MegaUpload site.
Is that MegaUpload site part of Navitotal ?

1. Imagine that!!

2. Does it matter?

Downloading A MAP for a newby

It matters to a newby, that is not familiar with this site.
It matters to a newby, who thinks that when he follows the link to MegaUpload, he is taken to The Relink Site.
I am just trying to make myself a little bit more familiar with the systems used on navitotal`s website.

When I click on the either of the two links to the maps you gave me Im taken to a site called Relink.

Is it possible to go directly to MegaUpload`s site, or must I go through the Relink site to get to the map?
