Does "Option 2" and "Option 3" of a zone of a map correspond

Thu Nov 29, 2018 11:50 am

Hi,

I tested the map Europe_Central_1GB_1000_8645 because I need a map:
  • with those countries "France + Germany + Luxemburg/Luxembourg + Switzerland"
  • with a size under 949 MB (because it must fit into my my TomTom XL 330 (TomTom 30 Series) (Serial number begins with RM)

The activation worked well but I can not use it because France is not covered in this map.

On the other hand, it is strange that France is not present in this map, because if I look at [Please Register or Login to download file] , into the zone "Central zone" from the map "Europe", the country France appears in "Option 1".

As the country France appears in "Option 1" but not in "Option 2" or "Option 3", this would mean that the coverage of the 1GB card corresponds to "Option 2" or "Option 3".

So I thought maybe:
* the full version of the zone corresponds to option 1;
* the version of the zone reduced to 2 GB corresponds to option 2;
* the version of the zone reduced to 1 GB corresponds to option 3.

This would explain why there are different options at [Please Register or Login to download file] for a zone.

What do you think about that?

Regards,

Have a look at Poteo_Roke's excellent document that details the coverage of the various maps as well as size etc...you'll find it very useful:

Your real problem is your device and it's lack of available space.
Have a look on eBay for another one with an SD slot like a Go x20/x40/x50 and you'll be able to fit any map you like on it.

You already got more than enough explanations about zones.

And now you start again so following Fredderf advice and buy another device.

And my advice is to buy a new device from around 150 euro and
theoretically for the next 5 years you have free life time maps.

Furthermore don,t tell stories the map Europe_Central_1GB_1000_8645 has France in it.
The map is too big for your device but if you remove the file poi.dat (you don,t have poi then anymore) then the map is 830MB. You can always,s try to put a smaller poi.dat in it from the same series (i.e. France etc)
if you really need poi,s from a country.
