As suspected earlier it confirms the activation is bound to the SD CID and not just the ID. The backup software would have made sure even hidden parts of the SD are copied, but if really bound to the CID you can't help it. There are programs that can read the CID but it is coded into the hardware of the SD and can't be changed. This CID is unique to every SD.
Just make a good full backup, activate the maps on the original SD and then (it should change to dct activation) copy everything to another SD. Restore the original SD to its original status and it should probably be useful for another round of activation with another car. Big drawback is you need the physical SD. Please try! I'm very interested in your results.
For example, I bought two cars, I need for each machine purchase maps, or I can purchase one time map via TomTom Home and activate a purchased map for two cars?
Purchase via Home = Always 1 purchase per car. Purchase as SD = Perhaps you might be able to activate on the first car, , update via Home, move data to antoher sd, restore Original sd and activate on second car, repeating the process. So we don't know, but we do know a physical address in the SD is used so one cannot upload the contents of a new SD and use that on antoher SD to activate maps.
to me, a new map MCT is fine on all the cars, then when you upgrade becomes DCT and is only good for a car. the backup does not work with MCT. _______________________________________________________________
secondo me, una mappa nuova MCT va bene su tutte la auto, poi quando si aggiorna diventa DCT e va bene solo per un automobile. la copia di backup non funziona con MCT.
Hi Downunder35m, I have a Renault Megane III with Caminat Live and 9.843 NC. I could continue your tests if you want, what have I to do? I suppose that I have to buy a new SD card, right? If yes, which model and size of SD have I to buy?
So far noone really managed to get a new patched Navcore onto the device, so only original maps/SD cards will work. I stopped the testing as there are no results that would offer a possibility for all Carminat users.
