Hi all,

After replacing a failed touch screen on my Go 720, I of course want to bring the map up to date. Its been a few years since the last time I did this and the map I normally use called "North_America_2GB", is no where to be found. I did consult the map chart to find which map I should use however I tried two so far with no success (of course using the latest FastActivate to patch the navcore/map). The message on the 720 is this map can't be used. So its the version of the map, not the metakey etc.

Could another kind and understanding Go720 owner point me to the correct North American map ?

(btw - my map is currently set to EU version because I can't get a new NA map working)

It has meta available and is less than 2GB unpacked

I tried USA_Canada 950.6492 however its too large to fit in the internal memory which was a pretty clear sign it was not going to work however since the 720 has SD card slot, I tried using the map from there and yep, kicked the "you cannot use this map on this device" error.

@tendriver: you mentioned that 905 was the last edition with the NA map. Could you expand that info slightly? I found the older 905 maps post however most of the USA and Canada maps have no meta code. (i.e. "USA_and_Canada_905_4855 [910MB]...Not usable yet! No meta code!"). Would FastActivate provide the meta code or are those maps too old now? Additionally, is the Navcore too new on my unit for the older maps?

Put a copy of FastActivate.exe & a copy of your device's ttgo.bif file in the 6492 map folder on the card. Run FA option 1, to update the meta file, & option 2, to patch the map.

Thank you Tendriver - the title "super" in moderator evident! Your advice solved my issue and many thanks for your experience in all matters of GPS! I am sorry to say my own experience has seriously lagged due to over dependence on Google map navi on my smartphone.
