GO 700 not able to patch maps

Fri Sep 07, 2018 5:03 pm

I've been trying to update my TomTom GO 700 to the 1015 maps (or really anything remotely recent - it was bought ~2005 and had never been updated ever!).

I used the TomTom HOME app to update the navcore to 7.903, which I beleive is the latest that can run on the GO 700.

I then saw that maps 1015 support navcore 7.903, so I downloaded Western Europe 1GB 1015 9156 which left me with three .rar files.

I used WinRAR to extract part3.rar, which extracted all the parts to give me a directory called Western_Europe_1GB_1015_9156. I then deleted everything on my GO 700 apart from ttsystem and ttgo.bif, and copied the Western_Europe_1GB_1015_9156 directory to the satnav.

I then copied FastActivate.exe to the satnav and ran it. First, I updated the meta.txt, which brought up the version to 03/09/2018. I then patched the navcore, which seemed to go fine. Lastly, I ran the option to patch the maps, however I got the error under incomplete maps: "Western_Europe_101717.meta => .dct error".

I had a look in the update meta .txt file and it looks like there is an entry present for Western Europe 1015 9156, although it is under a different name ("Europe West"). Could this be causing the issue?

My satnav details are:
ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 700
DeviceVersionHW=GO 700
DeviceSerialNumber=M5xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=54201
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183

Map(s):
E:\Western_Europe_1GB_1015_9156\

Storage:
Size 2379MB, Free 985MB

Any advice and help would be much appreciated!

Simples. You need to find a compatible map THAT HAS A META (which that one doesn't!)

Each & every individual map (title) has a unique & specifically meta

If that is true, you've deleted most of the files needed to run the device...you only need to delete the old map folder to make space for the new one

Restore the backup (assuming you have one) and find a map with a meta code as biggerdave says above
